Position Information
The Web Services team in the Communications division of TxDOT is looking for a web content administrator to join our award-winning team to help keep Texans across the state informed. You'll support the maintenance and administration of the content management system (CMS) and digital asset management system (DAM) used by the agency. As a cross-functional team, you will work closely with other web administrators, content authors, UX designers, developers, and analytics/data experts to translate user and business needs into innovative solutions. We're looking for a web content administrator that can provide exceptional customer service to users across the agency and offer administrative support to the team. Position Description
The role will focus primarily on the administration of content on TxDOT.gov through our content management system. This includes supporting content authors as they update the website, managing the digital asset manager to ensure standards are maintained, and collaborating with team members on content initiatives. The web content administrator will also support the administration of the content management system and the various workflows associated with its management. The ideal candidate would be a someone who has experience working within a CMS, is enthusiastic about web content, can manage multiple projects and is interested in growing their skillset. Our team works on a variety of projects and tasks collaboratively, which means that some days you'll be answering tickets and working directly with authors, and other days, you may be in a meeting discussing a proposed update and working with the team to identify possible solutions. The first month of the job will be focused on learning our systems and acquainting yourself with the team and the agency. This role reports to the Web Services Branch Manager and works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Employees at this level may assist other staff in performing work of greater complexity.
Essential Duties:
- Assists in maintaining day-to-day operation and maintenance of websites
- Operates content management system software to update web site content by revising existing pages or creating new ones
- Collaborates with website UX/UI designers and other stakeholders to prioritize content and website interactions UX interviews and website analytics
- Implements file naming standards and content organization for the digital asset management system and AEM CMS based on SEO and information architecture best practices.
- Trains district and division staff to use the content management system (CMS) to maintain their content.
- Analyzes the layout of Internet and intranet pages for efficiency and effectiveness; prepares graphics, text, and tables; and determines the size and arrangements of illustrative material and copy.
- Coordinates and/or performs testing to ensure that websites are accessible and comply with state and federal laws; and compiles findings and prepares reports documenting results.
- Assists with maintaining publication deadlines; developing and reviewing queries and submissions
- Assists in monitoring district and division websites by analyzing web traffic regularly to make suggestions for improvements to web team.
- Coordinates with administrative, technical and professional personnel to research subject materials
- Audits agency websites to remediate insecure form URLs and unsafe cross-origin links
- Develops and oversees content migration strategies and work assignments
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience: 3 years of experience in web content related activities. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).
