As General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in upholding the resort’s reputation for excellence and ensuring every guest leaves with a memorable impression.
Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the overall management and operations of the resort, ensuring the highest levels of guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and financial performance. This leadership role demands an experienced and strategic professional with a deep understanding of luxury hospitality, operational excellence, and brand integrity.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the resort’s strategic vision, aligning with ownership’s goals and brand standards.
- Monitor market trends to implement innovative strategies that enhance competitiveness and revenue.
- Set and communicate performance standards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and operational objectives.
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations across all departments, including front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, spa, and recreation.
- Ensure the seamless integration of all services to deliver a consistently exceptional guest experience.
- Implement and maintain high-quality standards in cleanliness, service, and product offerings.
Financial Oversight
- Prepare and manage the annual budget, ensuring revenue targets and cost controls are met.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying opportunities for increased profitability.
- Develop pricing strategies and oversee yield management to optimize occupancy and average daily rate (ADR).
Guest Experience
- Foster a culture of guest-centricity, ensuring a personalized and memorable stay for every guest.
- Handle VIP guests and resolve guest complaints with discretion and professionalism.
- Monitor guest feedback through surveys and reviews, implementing improvements where needed.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and mentor department heads and key personnel.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and employee satisfaction.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching to support professional growth.
Sales & Marketing
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to drive occupancy and revenue through targeted campaigns and partnerships.
- Represent the resort at industry events, trade shows, and community engagements to enhance brand visibility.
- Work closely with revenue management to optimize booking channels and distribution strategies.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all local regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Implement robust risk management protocols to protect guests, employees, and assets.
- Maintain certifications and licenses as required by governing bodies.
Qualifications Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in luxury hotels or resorts, with at least 5 years in a General Manager or similar role.
Skills & Competencies
- Proven ability to manage complex operations with a focus on delivering luxury service.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- A deep understanding of guest behavior in the luxury segment and the ability to exceed expectations.
- Proficiency in hotel management systems and MS Office Suite.
