Overview
Berrien Springs Public Schools is seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Maintenance Technician. Successful applicant will be responsible for the maintenance, trouble shooting, and repairs of building systems including, but not limited to HVAC/R systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, and general building maintenance.
Responsibilities
- PMs of HVAC systems, to include filters, belts, and motor repair or replacement and coil cleaning
- Perform maintenance / repairs of electrical systems to include drivers / lighting replacement, electrical component replacement including toggle switches, receptacles, circuit breakers / fuses, and light fixtures
- Perform maintenance of plumbing systems including lift stations, restroom fixture / component repairs, sewer drain line maintenance, drinking fountains, and roof drains
- General maintenance and repairs of equipment and buildings
- Work with contractors to ensure proper repair and maintenance of facilities
- Practice safe work habits and ensure facilities meet safety regulations
- Maintain inventory of necessary supplies and parts for maintaining facilities
- Respond to assigned work tickets
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of Facility Maintenance experience – school setting preferred
- Valid Michigan driver’s license
- Must be able to pass background check and drug screen
- Ability to work at heights of up to 30 ft. from a lift
- Demonstrated knowledge of the use of power and hand tools required for the job
- Ability to tolerate working conditions from high heat / humidity to below freezing conditions
- Ability to respond to emergencies outside of normal scheduled working hours
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary
- Computer skills necessary to navigate work order system, email and building management system
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
