Safety Manager - Great Lakes Region

Expectations
The Safety Manager is responsible for overall divisional safety, environmental and associated government body compliance/reporting. This will be accomplished through building a best-in-class culture that drives safety in all daily activities for all employees. The ideal candidate will be able to provide regular training, drive EHS infrastructure projects and programs, keep and report all relevant statistics, and ensure compliance with governing bodies. Maintaining excellent relationships with local operational utility service organizations is a key component in this role.
Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities
- Conduct jobsite observations of Five Star and subcontractor personnel and complete required paperwork
- Communicate issues with jobsite and supervisory personnel
- Complete New Hire Orientation, Sub-Contractor Orientation and other safety related training.
- Work with local leadership on various issues that arise
- Investigate accidents and utility damage.
- Lead and foster a Safety Culture
- Have regular communication with customer representatives, including meetings, jobsite visits, etc.
- Become involved in local Damage Prevention groups and other local safety organizations.
- Continued and ongoing coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications
- Proven work history with 3-5 years of experience in Safety - Preferably in Construction
- Valid Driver's License
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or related field
- Knowledge of Construction OSHA standards, OSHA 510 - Trenching & Excavating
- CSP, CHST certification preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of One-Call regulations and Damage Prevention
- 40-50% travel

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
