Position Title: Plumbing Technician
Department: Facilities
Employment Classification: Non-Exempt
Position Summary/General Description:
A Plumbing Technician maintains and repairs piping and associated equipment to ensure that are in properly working order to meet health and safety standards, as well as create a comfortable environment for customers and workers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and components
Main Activities
- Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials
- Identify required tools and special equipment
- Select the type and size of pipe required
- Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures
- Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment
- Assemble and install valves and fittings
- Install, repair and maintain water treatment equipment, piping and controls.
- Assist Water Treatment Plant Operator in the Operation and Maintenance of the water treatment facilities as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
- Assist the Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator in the Operation and Maintenance of the water treatment facilities as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
- Install, repair and maintain underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems
- Install, repair and maintain sinks, tubs and toilets
- Install, repair and maintain water heaters and conditioners
- Install, repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances and trim
- Install, repair and maintain boilers
- Install, repair and maintain well pump system
- Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
- Maintain all building codes, installation requirements and relevant legislation
Main Activities
- Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures
- Apply all codes to installations, repairs and maintenance
- Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements
- Administer and schedule work
Main Activities
- Assist in the preparation of budgets
- Prepare orders of supplies
- Keep daily reports
- Schedule work in cooperation with other trades and suppliers
- Perform other related duties as required

- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Relevant technical school or apprenticeship programs.
- Must have at least 10 years relevant work experience in plumbing repairs and maintenance
- Familiarity with water filtration and small waste water site operations
Licensing & Certification:
- Current State of New Mexico Plumbing License. Minimum JPG license.
Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery:
- Power lift to perform tasks up to 40 ft.
- Manual and electrical tools and equipment applicable to the Plumbing trade.
- Air Compressors.
- Welding and soldering tools.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to balance/climb, bend over, crouch/stoop, drive, hear, reach overhead, stand, talk, walk and repetitive use of hands 51-100% of the time.
- Requires the ability to crawl, kneel, sit and turn/twist 25-50% of the time.
- Requires the ability to push/pull 1-25 lbs. 51-100% of the time and 25-50+ lbs. 25-50% of the time.
- Requires the ability to carry 1-25 lbs. 51-100 % of the time; 25-50 lbs. 25-50% of the time; and 50+ lbs. 1-24% of the time.
- Requires the ability to lift 1-25 lbs. 51-100% of the time and 25-50+ lbs. 25-50% of the time.
- Requires the ability to slide/transfer 1-25 lbs. 51-100% of the time and 25-50+lbs. 25-50% of the time.
Essential Mental Demands:
- Requires the ability to solve problems, organize, plan and read 51-100% of the time.
- Requires the ability to make decisions, interpret data and write 25-50% of the time.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Work Environment (inside/outside):
- The job is performed indoors and outdoors with frequent exposure to hot/ cold temperatures, loud noises and occasional exposure to confined areas and fumes.
Other Requirements:
- Obtain and maintain a gaming license through the Pueblo of Laguna’s Gaming Control Board and must provide/maintain a valid New Mexico drivers’ license.
- Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening.
