Position Summary/General Description:
A Journeyman Electrician performs skilled electrical work in connection with the maintenance, repair and alterations of electrical systems, machinery and equipment; may exercise work direction over craftsmen helpers involved in such work; and performs related duties as required. Requires responsibility for: explaining and carrying out methods and procedures relative to electrical maintenance and repair work; preparing routine reports of work accomplished and time expended on maintenance and repair activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform electrician duties in connection with a wide variety of alterations, maintenance and repair projects and other appurtenant and miscellaneous structures; install, maintain and repair electrical lighting and power circuits, fixtures, motors and other related electrical equipment.
- Maintain familiarity with plans and specifications for each project and consult Lead Job Foreman and/or Foreman regarding interpretation and code requirements.
- Adhere to policy and procedures, work site rules, practices, standard operating procedures and other management control documents.
- Must be familiar with standard operating procedures, as set forth in guidelines only to the extent that these guidelines assist with project liaison responsibilities.
- Make inspections and repair of generating equipment and its auxiliary appurtenances.
- Maintain, adjust and repair circuit breakers and related operating equipment.
- Test and repair various types of relays and regulators.
- Make electrical installations, maintenance and repairs of systems.
- Prepare for and install equipment.
- Maintain and repair systems and installations.
- Hold an up-to-date journeyman's license and be educated in current National Electrical Guide (NEG) code requirements and changes as they occur.
- Foster and maintain a positive and ethical relationship with the customers, job foremen, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Maintain knowledge of current line spots as they expire to ensure safety and avoid extra job costs.
- Maintain daily and weekly time sheets, and daily log book.
- Strictly adhere to substance abuse and alcohol abuse.
- Track, prepare and submit all jobsite changes, quick quotes, time and materials (T&Ms), additional work authorizations ( AWAs) and process in a timely manner.
- Use all appropriate forms in order to run efficient projects.
- Strictly adhere to good housekeeping practices in storage areas, trailers, trucks, and vans.
- Work alongside crews to accomplish tasks (as dictated by scope and size of project).
- Keep precise records of rental equipment usage (ordering, usage and return) and report to Lead Job Foreman and/or Assistant Lead.
- Strictly adhere to safety policies, including PPE; report violations to Lead Job Foreman and/or Assistant Lead.
- Report any hazardous or dangerous condition; and evacuate from area if danger is eminent.
- Report all safety violations, incidents and request direction from Lead Job Foreman and/or Assistant Lead immediately.
- Strictly adhere to vehicle policies for use of assigned trucks and van.
- Interface with all subcontractors in order to make certain that the project progresses smoothly and in compliance with the scope of work.
- Coordinate with other trades in an ethical and professional manner and treat co-workers with integrity and respect.

- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year relevant work experience as a journeyman electrician in electrical maintenance, repair or construction work; or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience required.
- Minimum three (3) years relevant work experience highly preferred.
- Experience in the commercial and construction industry a plus.
- Associate's degree in Electronics or other related field preferred.
- Requires considerable knowledge of:
- various types of electrical equipment and installations;
- tools, materials and equipment necessary to the maintenance and repair of such installations: existing safety codes, ordinances and regulations.
- Requires ability to: work from drawings, sketches and blueprints; maintain routine records and reports on work accomplished.
- Requires considerable skill in the use and handling of electrical equipment and tools used in the electrical trade.
- Skilled in programming, job start-up and checkout, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and customer relation skills.
Licensing & Certification:
- New Mexico Licensed Journeymen Electrician (EE98J).
Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery:
- Proficient in basic computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Essential Physical Requirements:
- The job requires the ability to balance/climb, bend over, crawl, crouch/stoop, drive, hear, kneel, reach overhead, sit, stand, talk, turn/twist, walk and repetitively use hands 51-100% of the time.
- The job requires the ability to push/pull, carry, lift, and slide/transfer 50+lbs. 51-100% of the time.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Requires training and oversight of apprentice crew.
Work Environment (inside/outside):
- The job is performed indoors/outdoors with exposure to hot/cold temperatures, loud noises, and confined areas.
Other Requirements:
- Must maintain any and all licenses and/or certifications required to operate in the State of New Mexico.
- Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening.
