JOB SUMMARY
The Destination Services Marketing Specialist II works under the Destination Services Director and serves as a key contributor in furthering the marketing and promotion efforts of the department. The Marketing Specialist II assists with the planning, development, and implementation of marketing campaigns and strategies, with a heavy emphasis on content creation, graphic design, storytelling, and video production.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for brand development and concepts on City programs, projects, and events
- Develops annual advertising plan; executes contracts and oversees the creation of advertising materials
- Creates digital elements and assets for City and tourism related campaigns including forms, surveys, interactive documents, webpages, mobile applications, etc.
- Collaborates with Director to research and develop marketing strategies and study trends to increase city, tourism, and brand awareness
- Supports the Director in following-up with leads derived from sales and trade development efforts, and building/maintaining business relationships
- Responsible for identifying storytelling opportunities for the City and/or community, creating the concept and content for the story
- Schedules, films, and edits monthly video features on Buda activities, events, businesses, residents, and attractions
- Conceptualizes, designs, and implements branding and marketing collateral for internal and external audiences including but not limited to brochures, billboards, magazines, flyers, merchandise, promotional materials, etc.
- Produces City news magazine, dining, and entertainment guides, including writing, layout, and design; coordinates printing and distribution
- Creates content for social media platforms including but not limited to posts, photos, videos, and other creative content; engages with followers, regional pages and potential influencers; maintains branding across platforms, etc.
- Manages City’s website and coordinates with department communicators in ensuring webpages are regularly updated.
- Assists with the implementation monthly marketing and social media plans
- Reviews analytics reports for social media and website platforms and provides recommendations to guide departments digital outreach
- Works with team in planning, coordinating, and executing large scale events with a primary concentration on vendor management, marketing, sponsorship outreach and other responsibilities as needed
- Participates in advocating the visitor center and services at events including setup and breakdown of mobile visitor center, interacting with attendees and various advocacy efforts put forth by the department
- Prepares contracts with artists and musicians for special events; negotiates and prepares professional service agreements; supervises the staging and logistics of city events, as needed
- Coordinates with local hotels by providing assistance on promotional and marketing tasks
- Manages the recruitment and facilitation of the film friendly and music friendly programs
- Contributes to maintaining the websites and all related websites for accuracy, changes, and updates
- Recruits, trains, and supervises community volunteers and interns to support department programming
- Performs other related job duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations or other related fields. Four (4) years of qualified experience in related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in video production, including filming, sound, and editing with Adobe Create Suite: Premier
- Experience with graphic design through Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, etc.
- Experience with camera, audio, and lighting equipment
- Two (2) years-experience planning and executing events
- Two (2) years-experience managing social media and websites
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of graphic design, video production, and photography and associated software. Adobe Creative Suite preferred
- Knowledge of professional camera, audio, and lighting equipment
- Skill in written and verbal communications
- Skill in social media including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube and programs to manage and analyze them
- Skill in using computers for data entry, word processing and/or accounting purposes
- Skill in working effectively and efficiently without direct supervision
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech
- Ability to perform duties with tact, organization, and on schedule

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed in a dynamic, collaborative environment that requires smooth adaptation and flexibility to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Some evenings and weekends are required for meetings, events, and programs. This position works on-site.
