SEM Specialist I
The SEM Specialist I is the liaison between the company and the clients and is client-facing. This position will be responsible for implementing optimization tactics of search engine marketing (SEM) campaigns. If mid to high-level client campaigns are assigned this will be in conjunction with a senior-level staff member. The SEM Specialist I will proactively ensure client campaign success, retention, and oversee the company-client relationship.
The SEM Specialist I is responsible for implementing all aspects of SEM campaigns and the optimizations to ensure success. Ensuring that client SEM campaign strategies are implemented on time and within the set budget is essential. This will be achieved by working with the SEM team to adjust or redirect strategies as needed. The SEM Specialist I will also work with SEM Specialist II, SEM Specialist III, and senior-level teammates in developing SEM optimizations that align with client expectations.
The SEM Specialist I is an entry-level growth position. Performing extensive research, implementation, and learning more about SEM, the client, and their marketing goals. This position will also work in a supporting role for and receive mentoring and training from senior- level SEM team members.
Key skills for the SEM Specialist I are written communication, research and organizational strategies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
Objectives of this Role
- With support from senior-level teammates manage and execute effective SEM campaign implementations and campaign optimizations
- Develop an understanding of the organization of internal and external meetings, including agendas, defining objectives and goals of the discussion and follow-up action
- With oversight, manage campaign expectations with respect to scope of work and campaign status
- Assist in New Business opportunities
- Follow SEM campaign marketing initiatives and industry trends
- Understand how to review SEM campaign performance and improve upon it
- Willingness to be mentored and to leverage senior-level teammates knowledge and skills and to help develop Digital Coordinators and Interns
Overview of Responsibilities
Account Management
- Administer SEM campaigns for purposes of diagnostic reporting on client marketing projects
- Build keyword lists and organize the keywords into ad groups for SEM campaigns
- Create ads for SEM campaigns using established keywords and ad groups
- Engage programming and web developers with landing page/website optimizations and edits
- Establish online brand and product campaigns to raise brand awareness for clients through SEM campaign
- With oversight may manage certain digital marketing media accounts related to SEO/SEM/Social Media (Paid or Organic)
- Track conversion rates and making improvements to the websites & landing pages
- Utilizing a range of SEM optimization programs/techniques to improve client campaigns
Optimization
- Analyze key metrics and adjust strategy as recommended by Specialist II, SEM Specialist III, and senior-level teammates
- Assist with optimizing landing pages for clients using established templates and provide enhancements to landing pages from data seen inside of campaigns
- Monitor ad performance and adjust ad copy and images as needed to improve performance
- Monitor keyword performance and adjust keyword bids and match types as needed to improve performance
- Monitor and evaluate overall SEM results and search performance across the major paid search channels
- Monitor SEM dashboards, reports/key reporting tools, and point out key areas of importance in accordance with client goals
- Implement additional or new digital tools (campaign types, ad types, ad extensions, etc.) to improve campaign performance
- Test all links and landing pages before deployment - communicate errors to Business Analyst for corrections
Administrative
- Assist Account Services team with other duties as needed
- Assist Digital Marketing team with other duties as needed
- Attend Internal Meetings, Client Meetings, and Product Development Meetings as needed
- Creation of basic design/layout for presentations, graphics, reports, etc.
- Communication to team and management on all project development, timelines, and results
- CRM Database Querying, Management and Organization
- Attend discovery or periodic client meetings to obtain keywords, demographics, and target market data for specific client campaigns
- Work closely with the other team members (including contractors) to meet client goals
Reporting
- Create monthly performance reports using Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, CRM, and other 3rd party reporting software
- Create quarterly performance reports using Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, CRM, and other 3rd party reporting software
Research
- Assist with both paid and organic keyword and topic research
- Evaluating customer research, market conditions, and competitor data
- Perform SEM keyword research in coordination with client business objectives to optimize existing content and uncover new opportunities
- Strategy
- Provide insights from campaign performance to Specialists, Managers, and upper management
- With oversite, write executive summaries and recommendations based on monthly performance of campaigns
- A wide degree of creativity is expected with all SEM projects and campaigns
Important Qualities and Skills
- Effective organization and time-management skills
- Familiarity and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and ability to learn SmartTouch NexGen and project management software
- Knowledge of project management methodology
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal team
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels and functions
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to wear multiple hats and pitch in where needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, or related field
- 1-2 years of relevant marketing and/or advertising experience
- 1-2 years of client-facing experience
- Demonstrated creativity and implementation of social media campaigns
- Detail-oriented and well-organized
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
