JOB OBJECTIVES: Provide leadership in managing, directing, and coordinating safe, effective, efficient, and economical operation of the student transportation system of the client to which you are assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
·Coordinates with school officials to ensure safe, efficient, and timely pupil transportation service delivery. Develops and maintains responsible routes for all transportation eligible students in accordance with client policies and procedures and as required by the client and contract. Ensures the client receives full value for their transportation expenditures by ensuring that vehicles are assigned and routed to achieve maximum use of their time and capacity.
·Coordinates extracurricular and activity trips for the client.
·Observes weather conditions and makes recommendations concerning safety of bus transportation during inclement weather. Coordinates emergency response network when required.
·Communicates with employees and staff concerning District goals, objectives, and policies. Establishes and maintains effective communication with those contacted in the course of work.
·Maintains a cooperative, harmonious relationship with professionals and others within the school setting which fosters recognition and respect for every individual.
·Coordinates with the appropriate client department and personnel to select, assign, supervise, and evaluate the client’s transportation employees. Oversees compliance with labor standards and resolve labor/employee grievances. Tracks driver and monitor recruiting and training pipelines to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
·Supervises the work of all employees assigned to the transportation department and develops an in-service training program for all transportation department employees. Interacts daily with drivers, monitors, maintenance, safety, contractors, administrators, parents, etc. to ensure service requirements and obligations are met. Recommends assignments, promotions, transfers, and/or termination of all employees in the transportation department.
·Ensures that transportation related complaints and inquiries from parents, school administrators and bus companies are timely and properly addressed and recorded in TransPar’s Incident Management System (IMS). Cooperates with school administrators in the discipline of students while on school buses.
·Develops and monitors the transportation budget of the client in coordination with appropriate client personnel, policy, and procedures. Responsible for records necessary for pupil and cost accounting. Ensures the transportation department processes payables and receivables accurately and efficiently.
·Works with purchasing and/or other departments of the client to ensure contracts related to school bus operations are bid and awarded in accordance with the client’s policies and procedures, and state/federal law as required.
·Prepares required state, client, and TransPar reports and that all required reports and deliverables are provided to the client as required.
·Serves as a liaison officer between the client and general public in matters of pupil transportation. Attends meetings of school board and act as client liaison with various governing bodies.
·Displays professional behavior when working with students, families, co-workers, and others in the community.
·Conducts periodic inspections of equipment and works with appropriate maintenance personnel to schedule necessary repairs in accordance with national and state guidelines.
·Ensures all maintenance programs meet client and OEM guidelines.
·Has knowledge of common safety hazards and necessary safety precautions for self and others, sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment.
·Develops and maintains a safety program for the transportation department and implements new procedures as necessary to increase the safety and effectiveness of the client’s transportation services.
·Performs duties according to the client’s safety and health policies.
·Coordinates frequently with TransPar’s corporate staff to maintain continuity in policies and procedures.
·Assumes such other related duties as may be assigned by the appropriate client contract representative in accordance with our contract and/or by the Director of Client Services. Must be neat, clean, and dress appropriately.
·Ensures that all provisions of the contracts between the client and TransPar are met, and abides by all client and company policies.

·Ability to successfully pass state and/or federal required background checks.
·Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
·Ability to comply with all policies and procedures established by company.
·Frequent vehicle driving to attend meetings, to/from work, visits to school, garages, meetings, etc.
·Occasional long-distance travel to conferences, meetings, trainings, etc.
·Able to conduct, participate, and assist with meetings, focus groups, etc. This would require the ability to communicate and demonstrate responsiveness.
·While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand, reach, bend, stoop, crouch, squat and kneel. Normal lifting such as documents, briefcases, chairs, etc.
·Work non-traditional hours which may include evenings and weekends and meet the physical demands of handling a variety of needs.
Education and Experience:
·Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.
·Previous experience in a related field may be substituted for college degree at the discretion of TransPar.
·Five years of management experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
·Strong background/knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
·Knowledge of school bus routing software is a plus.
·Ability to develop and monitor budgets, KPI (Key Performance Indicators) reports, etc.
·Experience in school transportation or other related areas of transportation/logistics.
·Able to quickly analyze a situation and provide timely solutions.
·Excellent work habits, attendance record and must successfully complete and pass all criminal history and child abuse clearances.
·High level of aptitude for logistical problem solving.
·Strong written and verbal communications skills.
·Strong organizational skills.
·Ability and willingness to work longer than scheduled hours including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends when required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $73,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
