SUMMARY The primary purpose of the Manager for Facilities Planning and Design is to provide supervision, management, and direction in connecting capital projects to MDACC's current strategic plan, evaluating the use of MDACC's physical facilities and provide effective utilization of facilities planning resources. This includes assisting the Director with creating and communicating procedures, work flows, standards, and operating principles governing staff efforts. This position is also responsible for directing staff providing institutional standards for space allocation, predictive space and capital modeling, space programming, and project support.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES Capital Resource and Document Management Capital Resource Management, including providing management of institutional furniture surplus inventories and annual budgets for the procurement of furniture and institutional artwork. Manages the associated contractual processes and vendor relationships.
Interiors and Space Standards Interiors and Furniture Standards, including assisting in directing the investigation, development, revision, documentation, and implementation of institutional standards programs for Interior Finishes and Furniture, as well as the associated institutional policies & procedures.
Space Standards, including assisting in directing the investigation, development, revision, documentation, and implementation of institutional standards programs for space allocation, as well as the associated institutional policies & procedures.
Activation Standards Activation Standards, including coordination with space management plan, development of tools to aid in communicating and realizing facility and operational readiness on projects and continuous improvement of all tools and processes over time.

Bachelor's degree with major course work in Interior Design, Space Planning and/or Architecture or Science. Eight years of experience in commercial interior/architectural design to include three years supervisory experience. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
