Join us as an HVAC Mechanic! In this role, you’ll oversee the inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC systems that support the zoo’s diverse habitats and facilities. Compensation
The range for this position is $33 - $40 (hourly).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspects facilities and equipment to assess HVAC needs, diagnosing faults in electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
- Maintains, repairs, and installs complex HVAC equipment.
- Oversees and monitors BAS (Building Automation System) controls.
- Operates and repairs steam/hot water boilers, pumps, vacuum pumps, boiler feed pumps, and auxiliary equipment.
- Leads complex HVAC projects and coordinates maintenance and repairs with other trades or outside contractors. Mentors and guides team members by providing hands-on training.
- Maintains, replaces, and repairs commercial and industrial refrigeration, air conditioning, and related systems.
- Prepares and follows blueprints for installations and repairs.
- Assists in maintenance and repairs across various skilled trades.
- Operates tools and equipment used in various trades.
- Utilizes Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for communication and maintenance of records and reports, in addition to providing estimates on materials, labor, and equipment costs

Technical / Professional Requirements & Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience as an HVAC Mechanic.
- Expertise in HVAC diagnostics, repair, and safety programs.
- EPA CFC Universal Certification required
- Proven experience with building automation systems. Niagara® strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Availability for rotating on-call duties.

Schedule & Work Environment
- Monday-Friday, with rotating on-call shifts required.
- On-campus work at Denver Zoo.
