Position Overview:
The Engineer is responsible for the operation maintenance service and repair of equipment. This role will complete maintenance request work orders from all departments on a timely basis. Assist in the repair, maintenance, upkeep, and replacement of the property's cosmetic materials (interior/exterior painting, patching of woodwork and furniture refinishing), in accordance with hotel standards, and will also assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned.
Job Duties:
- Adhere to property guidelines to ensure the health, safety and comfort of our team members and guests.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and comply with deadlines for work assignments.
- Utilize Proper Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and in accordance with property specific guidelines.
- Respond and attend to guest repair requests. Adhere to quality expectations and standards.
- Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision.
- Manage guest requests, inquiries, and complaints promptly and completely. Ensure follow-up with guests is performed in a timely manner to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction and quality service.
- Performing preventative maintenance, to maintain the upkeep of the property, both inside and outside, as scheduled by Chief Engineer.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
- Document each day's activities and problems that occur are communicated to the other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
- Safely perform highly complex repairs of the physical property, electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration and pool heaters - ensuring all methods, materials and practices meet company standards and Local and National codes - with little or no supervision. Display solid knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, patching walls, painting, wall vinyl replacement, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
- Troubleshoot and perform repairs on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement), plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners, HVAC equipment, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and program TV’s. Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
- Display solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks. Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, and properly store flammable materials.
- Follow proper Hotel safety policies and procedures and use safety equipment as needed to ensure the safety of all team members during each shift. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.

- Ensure the work area is clean and clear of standing water, debris or any objects that can obstruct the job duties from being performed safely, efficiently, and effectively.
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
- Ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
Position Requirements:
- Ability to interpret manufacturer's literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and comply with deadlines for work assignments.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, stoop, twist, push, pull, and use power and hand tools.
- The employee must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift to 75 pounds.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including Holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: High School or equivalent; at least 1-2 years of related general repair experience is preferred, preferable in hospitality.
Wage Rate: $30.62 per hour
