Position summary: The Commercial HVAC Controls Service Technician performs technical service agreement tasks and scheduled assignments to ensure that automation systems are properly maintained and operating correctly.
Position responsibilities:
· Handles emergency service calls as directed during the workday and after hours.
· Responds to customer service calls (emergency, on-site, or on-line); checks indicated points of trouble; analyzes full requirements of system; checks and tests system components.
· Diagnoses trouble or defect; determines corrective action and repairs system.
· Performs preventative maintenance and diagnostics on automation system and components according to service agreement contracts.
· Tests and verifies system readings ensuring an optimal system operation.
· Identifies additional chargeable opportunities including time and material work, system upgrades, and service contract expansion.
· Prices, proposes, and proceeds with new work as per issued guidelines.
· Performs system checkout and assists in DDC systems start-ups for service installed jobs.
· Completes and submits service orders and reports covering all aspects of each assignment and activity.
· Participates in job site final walk and/or final completion for systems to service turnover on assigned jobs.
· Deliver technical support, coaching, and direction to end users and field labor when applicable.
· Other duties as requested by supervisor.
Essential skills, knowledge, and experience:
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in building controls and automation, including troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair DDC systems.
· High school diploma, associate’s degree preferred ·
· Niagara AX and/or Niagara 4 experience required.
· BACnet IP, TCP/IP, LonTalk, SQL and Modbus protocols experience required.
· Excellent verbal and written communication and customer relation skills; team player.
· Must possess a valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
· Time management; organizational skills.
· Adaptability; dependability; flexibility; integrity.

The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 35 lbs. This position requires the employee to stand up to 75% of the shift. Vision abilities include close, distant, and color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
