LICENSE :
Current Licensure with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Electricians Occupation Code, Title 8, Chapter 1305
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Serves as a Journeyman Electrician within the Electrical Branch of the North East Independent School District. Directly responsible for maintenance, repair, installation and modifications to electrical systems and services for and included within all North East Independent School District (NEISD) facilities and structures. Must be able to assess and determine the proper level of maintenance, repairs and alterations needed to ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical equipment and systems.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: :
1. Services and maintains emergency generator sets, ranging in size from 7KW to 300KW, single and three phase, diesel, gasoline and natural gas, water and air cooled.
2. Troubleshoots controls and verifies operational status of all emergency systems and related switchgear.
3. Verifies operational status, conducts infrared thermoscan inspections of electrical gear, cleans, services and tests main breakers, distribution service disconnects as part of the Preventive Maintenance Program.
4. Performs replacement of variable frequency drives.
5. Performs modifications to existing electrical systems as required for upgrades, remodels and expansions while conforming to both local and national electrical and fire codes.
6. Assesses work situation on site, applies appropriate criteria, standards, formulas, design modifications and clearances for the best method of job accomplishment.
7. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical systems including but not limited to lighting, power distribution, irrigation, lightning arresting, voltage suppression and voltage monitoring.
8. Communicates with Electrician II as needed to reduce job delays in scheduling and material purchases.
9. Maintains assigned District service vehicle in a clean and orderly fashion to project a positive image of the Maintenance Department and expedite service response.
10. Maintains confidentiality of information.
11. Frequently required to drive District vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.
12. Reports to work on time every day.
13. Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination to include vision, hearing, alcohol and drug testing
- Full knowledge of electrical current measurements and the formulas applied to it
- Thorough knowledge of Ohms Law and its application
- Working knowledge of personal computers and programmable logic controllers (PLC's)
- High degree of familiarity with older types and styles of electrical equipment and infrastructure
- Skills necessary to work with and understand testing equipment including multimeters, digital waveform recorders, light meters, harmonic analyzers, scope meters, circuit tracers and radio detection units
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics and design drawings
- Ability to acquire and maintain mandatory continuing education as required for licensing
- Ability to diagnose power quality problems and interpret simple waveform abnormalities
- Ability to apply the concepts of Electro-motive Force
- Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
