Engel Electric is a family-owned business known for its high-quality residential and commercial electrical installations in photovoltaic systems as well as general electric installation and repairs. We service the San Antonio area and surrounding cities in Texas.
We are seeking a SOLAR INSTALLER/ELECTRICIAN (Apprentice or Journeyman) to work primarily on both Commercial & Residential projects (full solar and battery installation projects as well as general electrical installation/repair projects).
General Tasks
- Installation and interconnection of PV Solar systems (ground mount and roof)
- Electrical installation, troubleshooting, repairs, etc.
- Installation of BOS components (batteries, inverters, meter cans, disconnect)
- Bending conduit and running wire
- Meter loop builds/rebuilds
- Completing required documentation for install
- Wire connection to circuit breakers, transformers, and other devices
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications and Requirements
- Active TDLR (Apprentice or Journeyman) license
- 2+ year(s) of experience in solar electrical system installations, in residential and/or commercial settings; including installation of solar modules.
- HIGHLY DESIRED: 1+ year(s) of experience working on general electrical projects (installation, repair, service calls, etc.)
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Ability to follow/execute proper electrical and solar PV standards
- Reliable transportation and valid Texas driver’s license in good standing
- Willing to occasionally travel within Texas to complete projects
- Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics
- Must be familiar with proper use of hand tools and equipment
- Ability to learn quickly with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work well with others in a supportive, collaborative team environment
- Punctual, reliable, and able to provide exceptional customer service
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to routinely climb ladders, walk up and down sloped surfaces, and work on elevated platforms
Preferred Qualifications (but not required)
- Additional experience in the general electrical and/or solar installation fields
- Desire to excel and learn more in both solar and general electrical fields
- Knowledge and basic understanding of Ohm's Law
- Knowledge of NEC Codes for 2017, 2020, 2023
- Knowledge of backup batteries (e.g. Tesla, Enphase / partial & whole home)
- Knowledge of electrical permit applications/process
- OSHA 30 Certification
- First-aid and CPR certification
- Additional specialized courses, certifications are a plus
Pay Rate: Commensurate with experience and licensing. NOTE: the compensation for this position includes solar panel installation differential pay on top of hourly rate.

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
