Position Overview:
The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s operations, ensuring the successful completion of projects, driving business growth, and maintaining the highest standards of service delivery. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical contracting, a proven track record of scaling small businesses, and strong leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the company, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of electricians, project managers, estimators, and administrative staff.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.
Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in both residential and commercial markets.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase market share and expand the company’s footprint.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
Financial Management:
- Oversee the company’s financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Monitor project costs and ensure profitability by managing expenses and optimizing resource allocation.
- Work with the accounting team to ensure timely invoicing, collections, and financial compliance.
Project Management:
- Ensure that all projects are planned, executed, and delivered according to contract specifications, timelines, and safety standards.
- Oversee project bidding, contract negotiation, and procurement processes.
- Resolve any issues that arise during the project lifecycle, ensuring client satisfaction and project success.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement long-term strategies for company growth, including market expansion, service diversification, and operational efficiency.
- Set and achieve company goals, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission and values.
- Continuously assess industry trends, market conditions, and competitive landscape to inform decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a General Manager or in a senior leadership role within the electrical contracting or construction industry.
- Extensive experience in both residential and commercial electrical work.
- Demonstrated success in scaling a small business to a larger operation.
- Strong knowledge of construction project management, including bidding, contracting, and execution.
- Excellent financial management skills, with the ability to analyze financial reports, manage budgets, and drive profitability.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a focus on fostering a positive work culture.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Educational background in electrical/construction management, business development, or similar preferred (but not required)
