This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. One year of technical or vocational school training in commercial/industrial plumbing or equivalent. Two to three years specialized experience at a journeyman level of experience in area of specialization.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and satisfactory motor vehicle record. State Oklahoma journeyman or apprentice license for heating and air (HVAC).
Knowledge: Tools, equipment, materials used in area of specialization. Blueprints, specifications, and plans. The ability to locate, price and procure parts for repair, replacement and maintenance of equipment. Occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations related to respective job function.
Skills: Installation maintenance and repair at an industrial/commercial level in area of specialization. Operation of standard equipment used in specialized area to determine and repair malfunctions. Reading blueprints, schematics, specifications, and plans associated with construction and installation in area of specialization. Performing basic mathematical calculations associated with area of specialization. Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees and citizens while performing assigned tasks and duties. Ability to get along and assist fellow employees is of great importance.
Duties and Responsibilities: Inspects function of all HVAC on a commercial/industrial scale to determine malfunctions, hazards, and need for adjustments, replacements, and/or repairs. Observes safety standards, specifications, and HVAC codes. Uses hand tools, power tools, and other equipment associated with commercial/industrial HVAC and maintenance. Inspects equipment for safety hazards before use. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as needed. Works in a manner safe to the individual and other people. Keeps work area clean and safe. Follows safety rules and safe work practices. Uses safety equipment as required. Performs other related duties are required.
Working Conditions: Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extremes of temperature, noise, and noxious fumes and odors. Exposure to hazardous situations which involves heavy machinery, hazardous chemicals, or power tools, power lifts, and possibility of electrical shock. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.
Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance. Analytical ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine necessary repairs. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (20-50 lb.) supplies, materials, and equipment frequently. Ability to lift and carry heavy (50-75 lb.) supplies, materials, and equipment occasionally. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
