Electrician Apprentice

Job Summary:

Our team seeks an Electrician Apprentice to learn on-the-job under the supervision of a Journeyman Electrician operating in the metro area for Commercial/Industrial Contractor. The apprenticeship will teach you how to assess and offer hands on experience for repair of electrical problems on commercial/industrial job sites. Depending on your previous electrical experiences, your duties will include basic tasks and progress to more skill-based tasks as you gain more experience.

Training Objective: New Tech Electrical is committed to helping our Apprentices gain technical knowledge and progress in their goal to become a Journeyman Electrician who will be assigned run with their own truck!

Electrician Apprentice Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist a journeyman electrician and follow instructions

· Prepare and clean service truck and work areas

· Carry and deliver materials

· Install, repair, and maintain various electrical wiring systems and equipment

· Use measuring equipment and hand tools to perform conduit work

· Follow safety codes and building regulations

· Apprentices are expected maintain a professional appearance

Electrician Apprentice Requirements and Qualifications:

· Preferrable to have one-year Electrical experience or 2 years of Trade School

· Electrical trade school graduate a plus

· Able to diagnose problems using electronic test equipment

· Basic knowledge of NEC electrical codes

· Eagerness to learn electrical schematics and blueprint reading skills

· Must have dependable transportation, cell phone and email data plan

· Must have basic hand tools

· A current MN Unlicensed Electrician card IS required

· High school diploma or GED certificate

· MN drivers License; Insurability

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring

· Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits

· Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead

· Lift 75 Lbs

· Climb ladders

· Tolerate repetitive movement of arms, hands, and fingers

· Work overhead for at least 50% of workday

· Tolerate working in all weather conditions (heat, cold, inside, outside, rain, snow)

· Work in restricted areas (electrical room, attics)
