The Public Works Traffic Operations Division is hiring for both certified and temporary Electrician positions.
Here’s what you can expect to do:
- Performs electrical work involving the construction, installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and communications systems.
- Maintains, repairs, and installs instruments, apparatus, and equipment, including high- and low-voltage and fiber optic systems. Installs, maintains, and tests electrical equipment used in operating a variety of equipment such as traffic signals, street lights, pumps, microprocessors, control panels, and transformers.
- Applies electrical expertise in facility construction, maintenance, and repair. Utilizes aerial personal lifts, ladders, and manual tools.
- Adheres to OSHA requirements and established safety policies and practices.
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Information about the current vacancies: Currently, there are vacancies for both day and evening shifts, with occasional after-hours callbacks. These positions will also be required to assist with plowing during snow emergencies.

Must possess a Class A journey-level electrician's license issued by the State of Minnesota.
Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
For positions in Public Works: Must possess and maintain a valid Class B or A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions for airbrakes. The CDL must have no suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses within the two year period prior to the date of the appointment. Suspensions for parking-related offenses are excluded.
Must pass a DOT required pre-employment drug screen and submit to DOT mandated random drug and alcohol testing after hire.
***Candidates with a valid Class D Driver's License will be considered for temporary positions, however, will not be eligible to obtain certified employment status until Human Resources receives confirmation of a valid Class A or B CDL as described above.
