The Holiday Inn and Suites Westway Park looking for the right, dynamic, results-oriented General Manager for our hotel in the heart of West Texas. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience as General Manager of a nationally branded, select-service hotel, preferably in the local market.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility of a General Manager is to manage the hotel's daily operations to achieve planned goals as measured by revenue, house profits, and RevPAR index. The General Manager will take the lead in keeping with all corporate and brand standards for guest satisfaction, associate satisfaction, quality assurance, and asset protection. Communicate with hotel owners and the corporate office as required. Ensures the development and execution of strategic sales and marketing initiatives.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Leads and manages hotel operations
- Approves hotel department budgets, defining and directing changes as required. Facilitates the preparation of hotel budgets and forecasts for corporate submission and approvals.
- Reviews forecasts. Directs hotel actions required to maximize profitability, increasing service levels and compliance with Hotel and Corporate policies and procedures and Brand Standards.
- Oversees the Sales and Marketing activity and results. Leads and participates in sales and marketing strategy meetings. Participates in the efforts to secure business as needed.
- Leads executive committee/department heads to ensure overall profit, service, and team member satisfaction goals are met or exceeded.
- Speaks with and responds to guests regarding service challenges.
- Facilitates hotel meetings.
Management
- Hires, supervises, coaches, disciplines, and conducts performance evaluations for department heads and key personnel.
- Develops the skills and abilities of direct reports.
- Monitors high-potential department heads and team members' activity and ensures their growth within the company.
Corporate Communication and Owner Relations
- Communication with hotel owners regarding results and aligning strategic plans for the future development of their hotel.
- Communicates with various corporate departments regarding implementing standards, procedures, and policies. Provides feedback on companywide initiatives.
The General Manager reports to the Sr. Vice President
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time achieving each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the company's particular requirements.
- Ensures each department manager maintains proper levels of supplies, cleaning supplies, and uniforms.
- Ensure all hotel equipment (i.e., kitchen and maintenance equipment) is adequately maintained, and employees are trained in the usage in accordance with safety standards.
- Develop and implement operating standards that comply with federal, state, local, and Company practices.
- Spends time with guests during breakfast hours, in accordance with the GM Meet and Greet policy.
- Attends industry meetings and participates in industry organizations.
- Understand the performance expectations of each job supervised well enough to measure performance and provide guidance.
- Participates in and maintains active community relations.
- Participates in and ensures the hotel maintains active college relations.
- Participates in corporate activities and meetings, as requested.
- Manages all incoming correspondence, including e-mail and paper mail.
- Input and retrieve information from computer systems, including but not limited to Human Resources Management systems, reservation systems, M3 Accounting systems, IT, and food and beverage systems.

- Extensive knowledge of hotel operations, sales & marketing, food & beverage, human resources, and hotel financial processes and analysis.
- Excellent written skills sufficient to produce communications that appropriately reflect the hotel's brand image.
- Ability to effectively deal with owners, customers, and team members, some of whom require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
- Knowledge of various computer software applications in Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and hotel management systems.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and late nights.
- Ability to perform critical analysis.
- Ability to manage extensive amounts of information and provide constructive feedback/direction.
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.

QUALIFYING STANDARDS:
Education
Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management or Business preferred. Equivalent experience is acceptable.
Experience
- Requires substantial and successful track record in hotel operations.
- Three years of hotel general manager or equivalent position experience.
- Experience in a select service nationally branded hotel, Hilton, is preferred.
- Proven track record of progressive career growth and pattern of success in achieving exceptional performance.
Grooming
All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
NOTICE: The hospitality business functions seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
