We're looking for a Branch General Manager to lead our roofing production team
$70k-$80k + 30% potential corporate bonus in addition to market commission of ~$5k - $10k per year
Position Mission
The Branch General Manager (GM) is a key leader responsible for overseeing daily operations within the branch's production department. This role requires strong leadership, organization, project management, and communication skills. The Branch GM is fully accountable for creating strategies, executing plans, and motivating the team to meet and exceed set expectations.
This position is critical in delivering branch production goals and supporting the company’s strategic business plan. Key responsibilities include People Development, Safety Compliance, Service Execution, P&L Management, Operational Excellence, and First-Class Customer Service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Branch Operations (50%):
- Structure and coordinate daily branch production activities.
- Develop and execute strategies to meet branch production goals.
- Support and improve operational efficiencies to ensure process stability, accuracy, and repeatability.
- Identify and develop talent within regional branches, building a pipeline of qualified team members for current and future needs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of effective training programs for all production roles.
- Provide support and accountability for leadership development and training programs.
- Lead hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and development of all production staff.
- Provide key leadership for company-wide change management initiatives.
- Foster a culture that embraces and rewards change.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer service.
- Manage the Annual Performance Indicator (API) process to align with overall business objectives.
- Serve as the key Human Resources representative at monthly BA Management meetings.
Operational Excellence (25%):
- Drive operational excellence by implementing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives across the branch.
Compensation and Benefits (20%):
- Collaborate with North America leadership to design and review compensation and benefits packages to attract and retain top talent.
- Manage global compensation plans, ensuring internal equity, external market competitiveness, and adherence to established salary ranges.
- Administer payout for growth bonuses and sales incentives.
- Develop fair and equitable compensation programs for all business units.
Compliance and Administration (20%):
- Oversee recruitment and hiring activities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and the company’s commitment to equal employment opportunities.
- Manage employee turnover and employment costs through high-quality selection and hiring practices.
- Maintain compliance with employment law, health and safety regulations, diversity initiatives, etc.
- Pursue ongoing education and certifications to ensure best HR practices and compliance.
- Work with external organizations like MSEC and SHRM on HR compliance matters.
- Manage and maintain the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
Organizational Development (10%):
- Collaborate with BA Management to implement organizational structures and reporting relationships that support the achievement of company objectives.
- Identify areas for organizational improvement, analyze issues, recommend and implement solutions, and follow up on outcomes.
- Stay informed on innovative organizational practices and approaches used by other successful companies.
Skills and Job Requirements:
Education and Formal Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resource management, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in business, human resource management, or a related field preferred.
- SPHR or PHR certification preferred; CBT and CCP certifications are a plus.
- Minimum of eight years of general business experience.
- Minimum of eight years of experience in human resource management.
- Minimum of five years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of human resource planning, organizational design, and development.
- Expertise in human resource practices and relevant legislation related to employment, compensation, benefits, safety, etc.
- Understanding of strategic business plans, annual goals, and business practices.
- Excellent negotiation skills, strong business judgment, and effective decision-making abilities.
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically.
- Proven ability to manage difficult and controversial issues.
- Capable of implementing company-wide policies and programs.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams, as well as work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to interpret and communicate legislation, translating it into policies and procedures as needed.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Working Environment and Physical Demands
Mix of office environment and on the job field work. Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching as well as climbing ladders, working on roofs at heights of 3 stories or less, heavy lifting up to 60 lbs at times. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires a normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and answer the phone. Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to read numbers, reports and computer terminals. Domestic travel up to 50%.
