Position Responsibilities:
- Develops work schedule for people working off shift, sick and vacation.
- Coordinates activities of personnel repairing, fabricating and assembling equipment.
- Promotes professional development and motivates staff.
- Interprets written instructions, drawings and specifications and makes shop computations relating to critical dimensions, tooling and machine tolerances in execution of the work.
- Keeps track of departmental occurrences as required.
- Conducts training for problem solving in hydraulic mechanisms for patient beds, therapy devices, wheelchairs, rolling chairs and other equipment.
- Completes assigned team's performance reviews; shares the information/assessments with the Manager before conducting the respective communication sessions.
- Makes suggestions towards the improvement of productivity and cost savings.
- Monitors, tests and inspects repaired equipment.
- Ensures daily completion of activities for assigned responsibilities.
- Acts as a guide for co-workers and the promotion of desired standards and practices.
- Implements and monitors the orientation program within the respective team. Trains other employees in the assigned responsibilities, making sure policies are followed.
- Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships with co-workers and management staff. Resolves conflicts when necessary; keeps Manager involved as required.
- Supports the Manager's communication initiatives. Informs the team of any departmental and / or hospital news, update issues, requests, general situations, etc.
- Assists with orientation / training of employees. Encourages professional growth and development.
- Supervises and coordinates tradesmen working in preventive maintenance and maintenance of plant operation/machinery trades, including but not limited to providing direction, supervision, guidance and technical assistance for operations, energy management control systems, computerized work order system, boilers, chillers, surgical air, vacuum, medical gases, pumps and energy management control systems.
- Estimates time and material for work assignments.
- Orders material and equipment required to complete work requests in a timely fashion; develops the scope of work for outside contractors. Maintains adequate inventory (supplies, tools and parts).
- Prioritizes work and develops plans to complete work assignments. Monitors and inspects status of work to ensure completion, compliance with work specifications, codes and regulations. May acts as working crew if requided by the project.
- Maintains all required records and information pertinent to the cost of individual assignments.
- Keeps all work areas orderly, clean and safe.
- Assures proper care and use of tools, equipment and supplies.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver License with no more than 4 points.
- Trade license: plumbing, general contractor, pipe fitter, or sprinkler fitter.
- Graduate of a formal Technical school or Program is preferred.
- 5 years progressive experience in related trades.
