Reporting Relationships
This position directly reports to the Maintenance Supervisor here and does not supervise others.
About The Role
We are seeking an HVAC/ Mechanic Technician to be a part of the Maintenance team based in Charlotte, NC. The HVAC/ Mechanic role is responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing, inspecting, troubleshooting, testing, and installation support of systems (HVAC) equipment (including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, compressed air, pneumatics, humidity control, electrical, auxiliary heating/cooling, monitoring, and control systems). This position also will perform preventative maintenance, mechanical repairs, and troubleshooting of production & development equipment.
Required Skills/ Abilities
- Able to troubleshoot, and maintain typical mechanical drive systems (brakes, clutches, couplings, bearings, belts, chains, gears, sprockets, etc.)
- Troubleshooting pneumatic systems
- HVAC and chilled water system troubleshooting and repair
- Pump and fan troubleshooting and repair
- Lubrication of machinery according to recognized best practices
- Equipment installation and precision alignment
- Experience and knowledge of electrical systems; power distribution and HVAC
- Understanding of cleanroom HEPA filtration systems, cleanroom requirements, and protocols
- Microsoft Office proficiency for document editing and business communication
Expectations
- Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery for production,HVAC, and general building operation
- Facility systems include:
- (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, water, air. HVAC systems include chilled water DX chillers and water/glycol loops as well as DX rooftop units
- Manufacturing systems include:
- Blown film extrusion, plastic film ovens, film slitting, and related equipment
- Troubleshooting and repair of electrical components for HVAC systems
- Perform minor fabrication and machine work, i.e., welding, milling machine, lathe, and drill press.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, portable hoists, cherry pickers, one-man lifts, etc...
- Utilize technical publications, diagrams, etc., to accomplish maintenance, repair, and ordering material and equipment.
- Perform minor modifications to equipment to eliminate the root cause of failures.
- Support new equipment installations.
- Complete and submit all paperwork associated with equipment maintenance and safety protocols.
- Train other maintenance personnel on systems and personal areas of expertise.
- Work collaboratively with all personnel; lead and participate in cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions
This position is in a manufacturing plant setting that would require working in a production environment around chemicals. Work will require standing and walking 80% of the time, working at heights up to 30 feet, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, bending, and twisting in order to reach remote equipment.
Celgard manufacturing sites are IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certified.
Education/ Certifications
Required:
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Associate degree preferred in a technical-related field, or completion of an accredited trade school in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), or equivalent HVAC work experience
Preferred:
- EPA Clean Air Section 608 License or obtain within a year
- 2 to 4 years' experience required in an industrial environment performing HVAC and mechanical maintenance.5+ years' experience preferred.
- Formal industrial maintenance training
- Strength in one or more of the following: welding, machine shop, optical alignment, and proper rigging techniques.
- Formal training with predictive techniques such as infrared and ultrasonic inspections.
