Job Overview
As a Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of our facilities to ensure a safe and efficient working environment for all staff. This position is responsible for managing and maintaining all aspects of safety at our facilities, this includes ensuring that the physical infrastructure is safe, functional, and well-maintained. This individual will manage the overall complexities of initiating and maintaining vendor relationships including general insurance communication for work injuries and safety incidents and overseeing the upkeep of equipment and materials in addition to other duties. A qualified candidate will be comfortable analyzing and repairing routine maintenance requests as needed within the facilities such as lighting, plumbing and HVAC.
Responsibilities
- Facility Inspection: Regularly inspect the entire facility to identify maintenance needs. This includes examining structural elements, equipment, HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and safety features.
- Maintenance Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive maintenance strategy to ensure the continuous operation and longevity of our facilities and equipment.
- Repair and Maintenance: Perform hands-on repair and maintenance tasks, such as fixing leaks, repairing electrical issues, replacing worn-out parts, and addressing structural problems.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all facilities meet safety regulations and standards, conduct regular inspections, and address any safety concerns promptly. Promote a culture of safety among staff and contractors/vendors.
- Safety Committee Leadership: Lead and guide the safety committee comprised of applicable management and leading the quarterly safety meetings for employees. Schedule meetings, setting agendas, and ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Plans, implements, manages, and maintains Shasta procedures to achieve regulatory compliance requirements including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).Partner with HR to establish and maintain complete safety and training records.
- Routine Maintenance Tasks: Perform routine maintenance tasks according to the schedule. This can include cleaning, lubricating, adjusting, and inspecting equipment to identify and address potential issues before they become critical.
- Documentation: Maintain a comprehensive database or log for all preventive maintenance activities, including dates, findings, and actions taken. This documentation is vital for compliance and future reference.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance tasks, such as HVAC servicing, elevator maintenance, or roof inspections. Ensure vendors are reliable and provide quality service.
- Environmental Sustainability: Identify and implement sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency measures and waste reduction programs, to minimize the environmental impact of facility operations.
- Space Planning: Coordinate facility space utilization and optimization to support construction projects and accommodate changing needs within the facilities.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to facility emergencies, such as equipment breakdowns, power outages, or water leaks/plumbing, promptly and effectively to minimize downtime and safety risks.
- Essential Communication: Regularly communicate with employees within the facility to understand their needs and address any maintenance concerns promptly. Provide updates on ongoing maintenance projects and schedules.
- Technology: Identify and implement a creative combination of technological tools to best fit the needs of the facilities and employees.
- Provides management team with guidance and leadership on EH&S systems and confirms facilities meets or exceeds industry, local, state, and federal guidelines, and regulations.
- Supervision: Supervise staff within the Facilities division, collaborate closely with them to divide responsibilities, plan work schedules, and supervise their work to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards. Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs for department. You will be responsible for growing & developing the team, serving as a guiding force for both strategic and tactical initiatives.

Required Experience/Qualifications
- Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver’s License and other applicable mechanical/equipment licenses (Forklift, HVAC etc.)- required.
- Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (required to communicate with English speaking employees and customers or vendors, the manuals for the equipment are in English).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- 5+ years of facilities management or 10+ years as a facilities technician/supervisor role- required.
- Proven experience in facilities management, preferably in a large corporate setting with manufacturing and warehouse facilities- required.
- Certifications such as Certified Facility Manager, Certified Safety Professional, Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), Certified Protection Officer, or other relevant certifications- required.
- Experience with OSHA, EPA standards and ADA requirements

Physical Requirements
The job is performed indoors/outdoors in a variety of settings including office, manufacturing floor, and warehouse. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, and smoke may occur. Protective safety clothing is required for certain areas, which includes appropriate clothing, shoes, gloves, hardhat, and goggles as needed. Activities include extended periods of standing or sitting and extensive work with measuring devices and other equipment.

- Regularly stands, walks, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, and crawls.
- Frequently lifts, moves, and carries up to 70 pounds; to push or pull up to 100 pounds.
- Normally works near moving mechanical parts, sharp objects, fumes and/or airborne particles.
- Sometimes works in outdoor weather conditions.
