Atlas is a well-established, family-owned business, based in Newark, NJ, that manufactures, sells and distributes leather tanning agents and other specialty-chemicals to more than 20 countries around the world.
Position Summary
This is the highest rated job in each of the Departments.
- Must be able to read and understand English.
- Must possess all maintenance skills including welding, pipefitting, millwright, pump repair, carpenter and others
- Electrical and instrument skills are desirable
- Black or Blue Seal boiler license would be a plus
- Responsible for the completion of all maintenance jobs in the plant. This is a hands-on position. Capable of planning and organizing all jobs, capable of ordering all materials and equipment for the tasks at hand
- Required to keep their work area clean and assist cleaning other areas when requested. They are responsible for their own safe operating practices and are expected to see that others in the department do not deviate from these practices.
- Follow all plant rules and regulations. They must wear the proper safety equipment at all times. If there is a spill, they must follow the established procedures for dealing with it.
- Must be capable of doing anything else that management assigns them.
Physical Requirements
- May need to lift bulky and/or heavy objects, frequently lifting (from ground and also overhead) and carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds
- Walking up and down stairs and/or on uneven or cluttered surfaces carrying a load; frequently bend, squat, reach, twist
- Ability to tolerate repetitive movements
- Ability to communicate verbally with colleagues and clients
- Physical dexterity to operate computer and other equipment
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a Chemical Manufacturing Facility and office environment with some physical demands. Work hours are generally weekdays during normal business hours and generally 40 hours/week. Some nights and weekends although uncommon may be necessary.
