Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Commercial HVAC Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems in commercial environments. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, a solid understanding of HVAC systems and components, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This position is critical to ensuring the comfort, safety, and efficiency of commercial buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- System Diagnosis & Troubleshooting
- Inspect, test, and analyze HVAC systems to identify malfunctions and inefficiencies.
- Perform diagnostic tasks using industry tools and software to pinpoint faults.
- Repairs & Maintenance
- Conduct timely repairs on a variety of HVAC equipment such as chillers, boilers, air handlers, and refrigeration units.
- Execute preventive maintenance activities, including cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments to ensure optimal system performance.
- Replace defective or worn-out parts, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
- Installation & Upgrades
- Support the installation of new HVAC systems and components in existing or newly constructed commercial facilities.
- Recommend and implement system upgrades to increase energy efficiency and improve performance.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Follow all relevant building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Properly handle refrigerants in compliance with EPA guidelines.
- Maintain accurate service logs, safety compliance records, and other documentation as required.
- Customer & Stakeholder Interaction
- Communicate findings and recommendations to building managers, property owners, or onsite supervisors.
- Provide guidance on energy-efficient practices and potential cost-saving measures.
- Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on the latest HVAC industry trends, tools, and best practices.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance technical and soft skills.
Qualifications
- Education & Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a vocational/technical training program in HVAC or a related field preferred.
- EPA refrigerant certification (Type II, Type III, or Universal) highly desired.
- Experience
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with commercial HVAC systems (diagnostics, repair, and maintenance).
- Familiarity with various commercial HVAC equipment brands and models.
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Knowledge of HVAC controls, BMS (Building Management Systems), and other related technologies.
- Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
- Good communication skills for interaction with clients, colleagues, and management.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in commercial environments (office buildings, retail centers, industrial facilities, etc.).
- May require lifting and handling of heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed for emergency repairs or system malfunctions.
