Job Title: HVAC/R Technician
Position Summary: The HVAC/R Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems primarily in commercial settings. The ideal candidate will ensure all systems operate efficiently and safely, meeting customer needs and adhering to regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Install HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, piping, and electrical components.
- Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and servicing of systems to ensure optimal performance. Replace or repair worn components, such as filters, belts, and motors.
- Repair: Diagnose system malfunctions using tools and test equipment. Repair or replace defective parts and components, including compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
- Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic tools and software to identify system issues. Address airflow problems, refrigerant leaks, and electrical faults.
- Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients about system performance, maintenance schedules, and repair needs. Provide recommendations for energy-efficient upgrades and replacements.
- Compliance: Adhere to safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations. Handle refrigerants according to EPA guidelines and company policies.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on jobs. Provide detailed reports for billing and warranty purposes.
Qualifications:
- Education & Certification: Universal EPA Certification. Vocational training in HVAC/R preferred. Additional certifications such as NATE, HVAC Excellence, or OSHA are a plus.
- Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC/R preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency with tools and diagnostic equipment for HVAC/R systems. Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and airflow principles. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Drivers license: Clean record
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools (up to 50 lbs.).
- Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions.
- Extended periods of standing, bending, and kneeling.
Work Environment:
- Combination of indoor and outdoor settings.
- Exposure to loud noise, varying temperatures, and potential hazards.
