SDAC is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to join our growing team. NATE and Universal CFC Certification are required.
The HVAC Mechanic will be responsible to provide HVAC preventative maintenance, diagnosis and repairs for established site at Government military facility as well as on demand service using accepted industry standard methods and following the manufacturers’ and/or Federal Government guidelines on facility HVAC equipment. The Mechanic will respond to client requests assigned in a safe, efficient, clean and professional manner.
Duties:
- Record on service tickets and work log reports daily activities and per job records.
- Maintain accurate lists, security and stocking levels of HVAC service tools and consumable supplies.
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to HVAC equipment including but not limited to heat pumps, split systems, roof top units, air handling units, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, VAV systems, etc.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC equipment failures including schematic controls wiring diagrams. Replace or adjust defective or worn parts to repair systems.
- Maintain chemical water treatment program at the direction of the Chief Engineer.
- Operation, repair and preventative maintenance of the Fire Alarm, Fire Sprinkler and emergency Generator systems.
- Operation and repair of Energy Management Systems.
- Responsible for performing his or her work safely and reporting to the Chief Engineer any observed safety and security problems.
- Lifting and moving of materials, supplies, and equipment minimum 75 lbs.
- Other reasonable assignment or request related to the building operations and maintenance as directed by the Chief Engineer.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working on HVAC systems and associated equipment
- NATE certification (required)
- Universal CFC Certification (required)
- DC 3rd (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- HVAC License (preferred)
- HVAC Excellence or UA Star Certification (preferred)
- Communicate effectively in English in speaking and writing
- Advanced HVAC training and manufacturer training
- Extensive technical knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning maintenance and repairs
- Ability to diagnose refrigeration systems, air distribution systems and equipment controls
- Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional overtime during afternoons, evenings and weekends as needed for emergencies
- Must be able to respond to after-hours emergency calls
- Good physical condition with ability to lift 75 lbs. and possessing good fine motor coordination and ability to withstand exposure to dust, fumes, heights, and confined spaces
- U.S. Citizen or approved registered alien
- Ability to pass drug screening and Federal Government criminal background check
- Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation): The HVAC Technician is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as hot and/or cold weather conditions, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Also, bending, stooping and occasional light lifting to accomplish tasks. Walking particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
