Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Hospital Engineer is responsible for performing general mechanical and preventative tasks. Inspects, services, repairs and overhauls equipment of the Hospital as directed. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in engineering principles and demonstrate expertise in various technical areas. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement innovative engineering solutions that meet project specifications and client needs.
Responsibilities
- Assists Plant Operations Director with day-to-day activities and personnel of the Plant Operations department including Plant Operation, Biomedical services, Security services and Environment services.
- Complies with parish, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations to complete assigned duties.
- Demonstrates active participation in maintaining CIHQ survey readiness.
- Uses manual and/or computerized maintenance management systems monitoring all operational activities in plant operations department.
- Complies with Plant Operations policy and procedures.
- Maintains all logs and journals for Plant Operation department.
- Assists with the evaluation of facility systems to determine need for installations, services and repairs.
- Communicates with appropriate staff regarding maintenance and operations of all facilities.
- Assists with training programs for facilities and plant operations staff.
- Communicates to Plant Operations Director to aid in timely implementation of projects.
- Assists with implementation of energy program initiatives.
- Participates and stays current with knowledge of Emergency Preparedness by attending conferences, especially those related to Hurricane Preparedness.
- Responsible for the inspection, repairs or overseeing of equipment repairs to include documentation.
- Implements lock out/tag out procedure as needed in daily operations.
- Inspects and maintains all tools/equipment - in good working/OSHA approved.
- Assigns a priority for completion of all facility work requests.
- General maintenance - grounds upkeep, plumbing, painting and equipment grounding checks
Requirements
- Local Stationary Engineer second class license required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of general building maintenance, repair and safety procedures. Knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc. required.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
- Minimum 2 years or more working in engineering environment.
- Working knowledge of physical plant equipment.
- Must possess emotional maturity, honesty, and reliability as well as an ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
- A proactive approach to learning new technologies and methodologies within the engineering field.
