Austin Achieve Public Schools is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school preparing Austin youth to attend and excel at top universities.
The Dispatcher will work closely with them to schedule school bus routes and support the drivers in the field. This individual will schedule and monitor the work of our drivers on daily routes. Confidence and a personable demeanor are important for building and maintaining excellent relationships with our drivers.
The ideal candidate for this role has experience successfully coordinating logistics for school bus transportation, commercial transportation or similar work, is eager to learn, and is committed to providing children with consistent, safe, and reliable transportation to and from school daily safely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule and dispatch drivers, vehicles or equipment to appropriate locations according to predetermined schedules, customer requests or immediate needs
- Adjust the schedule throughout the day to accommodate emergencies and driver availability.
- Relay information such as route adjustments or other messages to and from drivers, supervisors, school or emergency personnel
- Use telephones, two-way radios or text messages to contact employees or emergency personnel
- Speak with supervisors and team members to resolve problems, requests for services or equipment
- Prepare daily work such as schedules
- Keep and organize transportation data, inventory records and other information
- Serve as substitute school bus driver on a temporary basis if required. Note: Austin Achieve will provide paid training for the candidate to be fully licensed to drive a school bus if they are unlicensed at the time of hire.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word/Google Docs, Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, and Microsoft PowerPoint/Google Slides Experience with G Suite is a plus
- Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of background check

Required Experience:
- CDL, Passenger, and School Bus Endorsements (preferred)
