We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Construction to lead our construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction management and a proven track record of successfully managing a team to deliver commercial-scale projects. This role requires exceptional leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement construction strategies that align with company goals and industry best practices.
- Project Oversight: Oversee all construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within scope and budget.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing construction team, including project managers, site supervisors, and support staff.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality control standards to ensure exceptional workmanship and compliance with specifications.
- Budget Management: Manage construction budgets, optimize costs, and ensure financial objectives are met.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all construction operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Vendor Relations: Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project outcomes.
- Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance construction processes and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
Location: Austin or San Antonio, Texas
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of construction management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Certification: Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of construction methodologies and project management tools.
- Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities with a collaborative approach.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions quickly.
- Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
