Freedom Solar Power is looking for an organized and detailed-oriented Traveling Solar Installer Field Trainer to join our team. The Field Trainer is responsible for training our field install teams and overseeing the quality of our field teams’ workmanship. This role must have an excellent understanding of how to efficiently complete high-quality solar installations. An expert-level understanding of electrical tie-ins, code, and one-line diagrams is required. The Field Trainer reports directly to the Quality Control & Training Manager.
The Field Trainer includes designing and developing training programs based on the organization's needs. The successful candidate will need to communicate to the field team about what is expected and to help the team develop the competency and skills required to perform efficiently in the workplace. You will also need to be able to assess and coach employees, help advance their skills, and be enthusiastic about learning.
- Collaborate with Regional Operations Managers to align training schedules with Freedom’s hiring and training needs.
- Identify and create educational resources “ such as training manuals, visual aids, multimedia tools, computer tutorials, and reference materials”.
- Deliver comprehensive training including both in-person and remote.
- Administer assessments to gauge trainee progress and assess training effectiveness.
- Conduct on-the-job training progress to senior management during training periods.
- Generate performance reports on trainees, accompanied by recommendations for enhancing process efficiency in field operations.
- Undertake additional assigned responsibilities as required.
- Demonstrated experience in devising and refining solar technician-related curricula, as well as maintaining training resources aligned with industry best practices.

- Prior expertise in delivering theoretical training on electrical safety and qualified electrical work.
- Enhancement of crew efficiency and quality scores throughout the installation processes.
- Strong customer service and communications skills.
- Minimum of 2 years in a Crew Lead/Foreman role within the Solar Industry.
- Active Apprentice Electrician License.
- NABCEP certification is a plus
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Adaptability to evolving requirements of a dynamic and expanding company.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing new training initiatives tailored to company and industry demands.
- Developing critical analysis skills, with the ability to measure, assess, and enhance processes and training programs.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and execution capabilities, coupled with an adept understanding of project and program management.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% domestically to various job sites, often on short notice
- Provide regular updates on trainees.
- Capability to assume various physical positions, including stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended durations.
- Aptitude for lifting weights up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the workday.
- Comfort working at heights and in diverse climate conditions, encompassing both hot and cold environments.
