General Description:
Evaluate and interpret systems specifications, circuit schematics, assembly details, and arrangement drawings in order to generate an accurate cost estimate for installation of hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and electronic systems.
Prepare schematics, outline drawings and Bill of Materials required for installations using quotation documents and specifications for hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and electronic systems. Coordinate with Purchasing and Manufacturing to have components and documentation available on schedule. Act as a technical resource for installation requirements.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience fabricating industrial assemblies or industrial equipment (Hydraulic experience a must). Must be a qualified welder and fluid power mechanic, or achieve certification within one year to retain current position. Must have mechanical hand tools and mobile tool box. Must possess technical ability to proficiently read and understand shop drawings and schematics, along with vocabulary knowledge used in steel, pipe, and hydraulic fields. Must have proficient knowledge and skills to set-up and operate fabrication equipment (Welders, plasma cutter, horizontal band saw, drill press, iron worker, pipe threading machine, forklift, overhead crane, and common power tools). Must be able to fabricate quality assemblies from, (drawings, schematics, bill of material, sketches, photographs or customer requirements) in a timely manner. Must pursue product knowledge and advanced training to achieve higher quality, production, job titles and pay grades. Position requires a strong hands-on ability to layout control panels, units, and systems and basic structural fabrication and use of STICK, MIG, & TIG welding processes of structural steel and pipe.
Must be willing to work out of town short term or fluctuating schedules as needed to meet the customer’s needs.
Must work with and assist other mechanics in learning and advancing their skill base.
Must assist in the preventive maintenance and shop supplies programs as required to maintain efficient productivity.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide a strong hands-on ability to layout, assembly, fabrication, washing, painting, process, ship, and install custom lubrication assemblies, panels, packages, skids, and systems.
Read, understand, mark-up and process schematics, drawings, bills of material, quality sheets, test reports, and shipping documentation
Set-up and operate welders, plasma cutters, torch sets, pipe threading machine, band saws, drill presses, magnetic drill press, iron worker, hose machines, tube benders, tube flaring machines, steam pressure washer, forklifts, overhead cranes, paint booth & equipment, and company vehicles.
Specify, size, measure, cut, assemble, crimp, clean, install, and train others in the fabrication of hoses.
Specify, size, layout, bend, flare, clean, install, clamp, and train others in tube fabrication.
Mechanical assembly and related mounting of pumps & motors, filters, valves, heaters, coolers, manifolds, panels, and other hydraulic components.
Fabricate brackets, clamps, supports, mounting pads, skids, frames, and structures
Weld structural steel, couplings, pipe, brackets, Etc. with the use of STICK, MIG, & TIG processes and procedures in a shop or field environment.
Wire and test basic lube controls and system components.
Continuously improve knowledge of product types, operation, applications, and model codes while assisting subordinates in their continuous improvement.
Continuously improve knowledge of fabrication processes, procedures, and practices while assisting subordinates in their continuous improvement.
Maintain and promote a positive relationship and team work with other employees.
Maintain a clean and safe driving record and adhere to company driving policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education High school diploma. Welding inspection. Advanced welding. Hydraulics Principles. High mechanical aptitude score. Basic electrical wiring. Material handling rigging and lifting. Industrial work safety. MSHA certified. Computer and software use. Experience Five years in an industrial related field. Three years Stick, MIG, or TIG welding. Three years hydraulic related field. Three years as a lead man or foreman. Skills Clear written and verbal communication skills. Self motivated and organizational skills. Advanced computer skills. WORKING CONDITIONS This is a full time salary position. The candidate should reside within 50 mile radius of the facility in Charlotte, NC. Some weekend and over time may be required. Some travel will be required, typically within the Southeast, US. Lifting of 50+ lbs and being on your feet for long periods of time will be required. All personnel must create and maintain a safe work environment at all times. All employees must conform and adhere to all policies reflected in the Associate Handbook.
