G2 Secure Staff is expanding and looking to add a Safety Manager to the operations at Detroit Wayne County International Airport (DTW).
Title: Safety Manager
Job Type: Full-time
The Safety Manager provides guidance and direction for the planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for employees. The safety manager also serves as a local safety advocate, engaging local employees in the Safety Program to achieve continuous improvement and expense reduction.
What does a Safety Manager do?
- Possess the tact to deal with all levels of situations, client representatives, employees, and the public Implement a safety plan for the station
- Ensure implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS)
- Implement a safety plan for the station
- Maintain Quality Assurance oversight for operational issues relating to performance and safety, providing suitable corrective and/or preventative actions where necessary
- Adhere to company policies and procedures and participate in achieving company objectives.
- Perform other duties as requested
What skills are required to Join the Team?
- Must be 18 years or older
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience
- Five (5) years of experience in a safety leadership role
- Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce federal, state, local, and company regulations
- Expert knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ISAGO, SMS, and DOT standards
- Strong leadership and proactive problem-solving skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated organizational and prioritization abilities
- Ability to analyze various types of data and produce reports for senior management
- Proven success in developing, training, and implementing safety procedures and best practices
- Demonstrated presentation, training, and facilitation skills
- Strong diplomacy and relationship-building skills. Able to influence others positively.
- Must be able to sit, stand, lift, and/or bend throughout the shift.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and/or hold up to 50 lbs.
- Limited travel may be required
- Must have a reliable mode of communication and transportation
- Must meet the necessary requirements to obtain a security-sensitive identification badge
Language Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals, and employee handbooks
- Ability to effectively present information, including in written form, and respond to questions from passengers, managers, clients, customers, and the public
- Must also possess and utilize effective listening skills

- A degree in occupational safety/industrial, health education, or a degree in a related field
- Airport experience
- Management or supervisory experience
