Job Summary: The HVAC Plant Manager is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of HVAC plant operations, ensuring the highest standards of performance, efficiency, and safety. This role involves strategic planning, advanced technical management, and leadership of a team of skilled technicians. The HVAC Plant Manager will optimize plant processes, implement cutting-edge technologies, and achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of HVAC plant operations, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and reliability of HVAC systems.
- Develop and implement strategic operational plans to meet the facility's HVAC needs and support overall business objectives.
- Lead a team of HVAC technicians, providing expert guidance, technical training, and performance management.
- Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of HVAC operations with facility requirements.
- Maintenance and Repair:
- Develop, implement, and oversee preventive maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and reliability of HVAC equipment.
- Supervise complex repair activities, ensuring timely and effective resolution of technical issues to minimize downtime.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve HVAC system malfunctions.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all HVAC operations comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions to mitigate hazards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA requirements and other relevant regulations, ensuring the plant's compliance.
- Performance Optimization:
- Monitor and analyze HVAC system performance data, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
- Implement best practices and innovative technologies to enhance plant performance and energy efficiency.
- Develop and manage the HVAC plant budget, controlling costs while optimizing resource allocation.
- Technical Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory levels.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on HVAC plant performance, maintenance activities, and project progress for senior management.
- Develop and maintain procedure manuals, ensuring all technical documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
- Crisis Management:
- Respond to emergency situations, managing crisis scenarios to ensure the safety and continuity of HVAC operations.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and protocols, training staff to handle emergency situations effectively.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes, incorporating best practices into plant operations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and the pursuit of operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- At least four years' experience in commercial air conditioning, including working with chillers, water pumps, cooling towers, air handlers, package units, split systems, exhaust fans, and heat pumps.
- Extensive experience in HVAC plant operations, with a proven track record of managing complex HVAC systems and equipment.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience leading and developing a team of technical professionals.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair of complex HVAC equipment.
- Advanced understanding of energy management, efficiency optimization, and sustainability practices.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental standards, and OSHA requirements.
- Proficiency in using advanced maintenance management software, diagnostic tools, and other relevant technologies.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex performance data and implement data-driven improvements.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and projects.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Valid driver's license in good standing.
