Job description
We are seeking a Lead Maintenance Technician to join our team in downtown Detroit. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance tasks on various equipment and machinery throughout our multifamily and commercial buildings. Responsibilities:
-Lead other maintenance team members in a daily morning check-in to prioritize and delegate the day's tasks, service request status and unit-turns.
-Perform regular maintenance checks on equipment and machinery, including mechanical and electrical systems.
-Troubleshoot and repair issues with equipment and machinery, utilizing mechanical and electrical knowledge.
-Conduct routine inspections and maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failure and downtime.
- Utilize logic to troubleshoot and diagnose issues.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including dates, times, and work performed.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests and communicating effectively with customers.
-Assist with making apartments ready by completing unit-turnover checklist and actively engaging with vendors. This work involves making drywall repairs, painting and any other task required to bring the unit to move-in ready condition.
- Work collaboratively with other maintenance technicians to ensure efficient and effective maintenance practices, including maintaining carts and supply areas in clean and organized condition.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, best practices, and new technologies to continuously improve repair skill and maintenance procedures.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
- Ability to maintain equipment and machinery.
-Skill with appliance repair, plumbing, painting, and carpentry.
-Must be an effective communicator.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Familiarity with English language.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures and best practices.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks in a fast-paced environment. This role has physical demands that include frequent bending, pushing, reaching, climbing, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, and standing. In addition, lifting of 50 lbs. with frequent lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25lbs is expected. This position requires frequent motion with limited periods of rest, outside of scheduled breaks.

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 43 per week
