Job Title: Electrical Technician
Location: Martin County General Services
Pay: $25.10/hr. + benefit options and PTO
Schedule: Full time Hours M-F {7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.}
Position is contract through reSOURCE Government Services
Must be able to pass criminal background, drug testing and MVR

SUMMARY
This is limited semi-skilled work in training to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems.
Employee works under the direct supervision of a Licensed Electrician.
Instructions may be received orally or written. Routine scheduled work is performed with considerable independence.
The incumbent must understand complex verbal and written instructions and follow safety procedures and precautions related to work in energized electrical substations.
This position will be subject to a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) security clearance due to its access to the various criminal justice system operations.
This position may require you to have a take-home vehicle for purposes of responding to departmental emergency situations.
An employee is covered under the County’s auto insurance policy when operating the vehicle in the scope of his or her employment.
Employees are encouraged to purchase a rider of endorsement to their personal automobile policy to provide coverage for operating a County vehicle for personal use including driving to and from work.
In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee may be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITES

Works primarily with the General Services Licensed Electrician, but also with various County staff performing manual and technical work incidental to preventative and corrective maintenance tasks involving electrical systems and/or HVAC systems.
May assist but not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, painting, concrete, masonry, and other construction related trades.
Assists in the testing and diagnosis of transformers, breakers, relays and related electrical equipment for operational conditions and reliability.
Reads gauges and instruments and logs the information in records.
Reads blueprints and diagrams for electrical systems.
Performs increasingly difficult and skilled work approaching journey level as the training period progresses.
Experience with working with hand tools, power tools and electronic test equipment.
Installs service feeders for services, run pipe, pull branch circuits, install lighting, and minimum troubleshooting.
Ability to understand complex verbal and written instructions and follow safety procedures and precautions related to work in energized electrical substations.
Utilizes vehicles by operating bucket trucks, maintaining inventory and conducting inspections.
May be required to work overtime or alternate hours as necessary for the efficient operations of the department.
Performs work related to this job description as required.

Some knowledge of the methods, materials and tools used in electrical systems construction and maintenance.
Skill in the use of tools and instruments used in electrical work.
Ability to read blueprints and apply information.

Ability and willingness to learn a wide variety of skilled tasks required in electrical construction and maintenance work.
Ability to learn and observe safety and environmental regulations and precautions and possess the ability to learn and apply confined space.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, other employees and the general public.
Ability to complete a training program leading to journey level electrician.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a High School Diploma and one (1) year experience as an Electrical helper.
Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License
