Position Summary
Responsible for operation of boilers, chillers and all related equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(1) Monitor plant equipment and maintain services.
(2) Engineer will keep boiler and chiller room floors, machinery and equipment clean, and make minor repairs when possible without interrupting services.
(3) Engineer will perform maintenance work in the boiler room, chiller room, tunnels and buildings.
(4) Engineer is required to answer the Facility Operations telephone and respond by alerting appropriate Facility Operations staff, as may be required, before 7:30 a.m., after 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, and also on weekends and holidays.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
2nd Class Steam License, City of Detroit st Class Refrigeration License, City of Detroit At least 5 years experience in a powerhouse
Preferred Qualifications
Slate and Banner 9 experience preferred. May include long hours of sitting at a desk and computer
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of building automation systems.
Physical Requirements
Job requires repetitive lifting of light weight objects with frequent bending and stooping, or repetitively lift average weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds).
Work Environment
Regular exposure to unfavorable conditions such as weather conditions, or confined, noisy, or dirty locations.
Licenses/Certifications
Valid state of Michigan driver’s license
Valid City of Detroit Second Class Steam License
Valid City of Detroit First Class Refrigeration License
