Manager, Sales & Engineering
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Manager of Sales and Engineering to lead Sales and Design/Innovation Engineering functions within Nortek Coils Solutions, a business within Air Solution’s Air Handling business. This position will Develop and implement new strategies to profitably grow external coil sales. This leader will lead the development and execution of go-to-market strategies and further strengthen Nortek’s lifecycle value to the customer. The leader will ensure that Coils Sales and Engineering team is performing against business expectations, forecasts and customer requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
- Establishes the direction, performance goals, plan and vision to align the resources of the Sales/Engineering team to ensure growth and penetration.
- Carry out comprehensive market research aligned with the strategic growth priorities, to understand the market niche and growth opportunities.
- Strong Sales Opportunity Pipeline Management skills are required to proactively plan for successful execution of sales strategies and to produce accurate Sales Forecasts
- Prospect and develop new opportunities to grow the Coils Solutions business.
- Understand the value chain players and sales process required to win Major Projects utilizing your strong account planning and face-to-face meeting skills.
- Conduct negotiations according to company guidelines, working closely with internal stakeholders including Finance, Legal, Engineering and Project Management
- Deeply involved in building and maintaining good and lasting relationships with key reps and customers, that provide insight and a landscape where Nortek Coil Solutions has a competitive advantage through our ‘Trusted Advisor” level relationships.
- Leverage local market knowledge to focus on growing products and introduce new ones applying an “outside in” discipline.
- Work closely with the customer to collect voice of the customer input on key pain points that Nortek Coil Solutions can address through our product offering/solutions.
- Gain a deep knowledge of the background, strengths, weaknesses, and development needs of key talent within the Nortek Air Solutions sales and engineering organizations.
- Facilitate, in partnership with Human Resources, talent development initiatives for the commercial organization including succession planning, individual development plans, and identification of high potential candidates, and develop strategies the development of or replacement of team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a management role.
- Previous experience in an engineering role, program management (new product development)
- Previous experience in managing or leading or facilitating Value Engineering/Value Analysis (VE/VA) projects is a plus.
- Previous experience as a Sales Account Manager or Sales Manager.
- HVAC industry with plastic manufacturing experience a plus.
- Demonstrates strong ownership, drives positive change and challenges status quo.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with ability and willingness to communicate, and work with other regions.
- Demonstrates personal effectiveness and leadership to motivate others to excel, including providing robust goals, challenging stretch assignments and experiences aligned with Employee Development Plans.
- Proven ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external customers/contacts, including the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a result – driven and team- oriented environment.
- Willing to travel up to 20%; primarily domestic and occasionally internationally.
