This job assumes responsibility for leading assigned staff and collaborating with Facilities leadership. Maintains, monitors, repairs and operates all utilities and related central plant equipment. Responds to all maintenance request and maintains central plant in good, clean working condition. Maintains preventative maintenance schedules and completes corrective maintenance to all equipment in a timely and professional manner. Refers requests that are beyond the scope of the assigned staff to Facilities leadership for distribution to appropriate party and assists Facilities leadership with budgetary goals and inventory control.
Education
Required – High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred – Trade school training in engineering
Work Experience
Required – 5 years’ related experience
Certifications
Required – Second Class Engineers Certification issued by the state of practice for Air Condition/Refrigeration and Second Class Boilers within 12 months of hire
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Possess knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and (HVAC-R).
- Skills to make mathematical calculations and operate/maintain/repair central plant equipment.
- Ability to work self-directed and able to work with little or no supervision.
- Skills to understand and interpret blueprints and schematic specifications necessary to properly perform the duties of this position.
- Skills to troubleshoot and analyze problems associated with areas of responsibility.
- Skills to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a helpful and respectful demeanor.
- Ability to handle physical and mental stress associated with keeping all central plant equipment properly operating at all times, including timely repairs to equipment.
- Skills to safely use all hand and power tools required to properly perform job duties.
Job Duties
- Performs general duties.
- Performs Preventative Maintenance inspections and all job-related documentation.
- Maintains and documents records associated with tasks, as needed.
- Follows up on previous and on-going projects.
- Leads and supervises assigned staff.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Other related duties as required.
