We need a Field Service Technician to assist us in helping our customers and YOU can do so by joining our team in the Bay Area.
The main objective of our Field Service Technician is to assist the district in managing and servicing accounts through the execution of routine testing and by executing sales and /or installation of small equipment items to keep the chemistry within our desired range. This specific position will spend 25% or more of work time making customer deliveries.
Job Duties
1. Provides technical support and service for direct customers to assist them into achieving proper results in the application of our water treatment products and control equipment.
2. Ensures that all accounts are serviced at the frequency required to maintain maximum gross margin.
3. Maintain product inventories at all customers to ensure treatment needs are fulfilled.
4. Maintains accurate inventory records of water treatment products, reagents and equipment at local warehouse facility.
5. Completes all necessary paperwork, including service reports, expense reports, call activity reports and monthly schedules. Ensure all service reports are completed and communicated in a timely fashion.
6. Provides response to customer complaints and emergencies.
7. Continues to upgrade product/system knowledge to keep up with changing technology.
8. Communicates all problems which detract from the effectiveness of the Field Selling efforts to the attention of their manager and Corporate management, with recommendations for correction.
9. Performs deliveries and on-site chemical transfers as required.
10. Installation or repair of equipment related to the water treatment program.
11. Perform field measurements using test kits and collecting and evaluating water samples that include but are not limited to cooling towers, closed loop and boiler systems, or for sample submission for laboratory analysis following proper handling, storage, and chain-of-custody procedures.
12. Communicates with assigned Manager on a day-to-day basis in resolving complex technical issues.
Required Skills
· 2 years experience preferred in water treatment or HVAC service is desired, or background in Chemistry and customer service.
· Computer Skills: Ability to use Email and Calendar System (Outlook), Word Processing Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to learn other computer programs as used in the industry.
· Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals. Ability to write reports, and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
· Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
· Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
· Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and to balance requirements of multiple and varied duties
· Customer Service skills – Ability to communicate a positive image of the company to customers.
· Tenacity – Possess a great work ethic and a willingness to do what needs to be done (and not take shortcuts).
Required Experience
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Valid Driver’s License as well as driving record that will allow you to be added to our corporate insurance policy.
