Job Duties
The Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a Senior HVAC Technician for a full-time position with our Facilities Services and Planning group in Richmond, Virginia.
The Sr. HVAC Tech will be responsible for overseeing maintenance, construction, and renovation projects involving HVAC systems, chiller plant operation, & related services. In absence of the Trades Manager, they will serve as back-up for field related projects regarding HVAC maintenance/repair of existing facilities. They would be required to possess knowledge and experience with electrical, plumbing, gas/heating oils, and sheet metal work related to HVAC applications.
The incumbent in this position will be a subject matter expert in a wide variety of HVAC fields and extremely knowledgeable in numerous trade crafts involving multiple manufacturer types, makes, and models comparable with residential, commercial, and industrial applications. They will be responsible for troubleshooting of HVAC systems to identify problems and minimize equipment downtime, complying with building codes and regulations and federal, local and state laws, installation, removal, maintenance, and repair of HVAC components and systems, preventative maintenance on HVAC systems and components.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possesses Certifications in HVAC; displays considerable experience in the HVAC field; a subject matter expert in the HVAC trade, understanding the components and systems in a prolific manner. Has a firm understanding on multiple systems and manufacturers.
- Considerable experience in the construction trades; displays experience in multiple trade disciplines; possesses minimal journeyman level experience in 2 or more trades.
- Considerable experience in facilities management roles; has knowledge in a wide variety of trades roles; has managed personnel in multiple trade disciplines; has experience in work order systems; understands workflow processes/procedures.
- Considerable experience in managing projects; has prolific experience in managing contracts and contracted work; displays competency with construction specifications and plans; knowledge of construction schedules; has managed multiple stage projects.
- Extensive Experience with MS products, computers, software, emails, phones, schedules, spreadsheets.
- Considerable knowledge & experience with State Procurement rules, policies, procedures, and regulations; has input and approved purchases in eVa; has possessed a purchase card and made purchases.
Additional Considerations
- Possesses a majority of the EPA certifications required for processing refrigerants; displays multiple training certificates for various makes/models.
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Virginia Driver’s License
