The function of the position is to maximize company profit through sales, leasing and renting equipment within an assigned geographic territory. Other responsibilities include preparing reports on sales activity within the territory, prospecting for and compiling a list of new customers, forecasting annual volume and profitability and coordinating assigned service, rental and machine movement activities in and among branch facilities in the territory.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
- Generate sales and rentals through direct customer contact. Prepare quotations, present and negotiate transactions.
- Submit monthly expense reports and quote/sales summaries. Submit transaction reports and National Account call reports.
- Attend company meetings and maintain current product knowledge.
- Maintain a customer call/mail list and submit credit applications for new customer.
- Request on-site demos, coordinate transportation, present the machine at the customer site and maintain contact throughout the demo.
- Coordinate the delivery of new machines so as to arrive with the unit and introduce it to the appropriate user personnel.
- Develop and submit annual sales forecasts and marketing plans.
- Negotiate with customers to resolve complaints.
- Survey applications and submit requests for TM&R rates.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2-3 years successful outside sales experience; experience in heavy equipment industry preferred
- Demonstrated sales ability
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
- Travel is required
