Energy Consultant or REM

This position requires relocation to either South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. Relocation costs will be provided.

Energy Efficiency & Consulting Services, LLC (EECS) is interviewing for open positions for a Resource Efficiency Manager (REM) in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. Work will be performed on a United States military base.

The REM assists the DOD in reducing energy consumption and initiating and evaluating energy projects. The type of equipment that might be analyzed would include chilled water systems, HVAC systems, boilers, air compressors, air handlers, solar, wind turbines, geothermal, cogeneration, and various distribution systems.

Scope of Work

· Provide services in support of the energy goals and for reduction of overall utility costs and consumption by reducing energy use intensity by at least 3% per year and water consumption intensity by at least 2% per year

· Develop Energy Plan and Implementation Strategy

· Use spreadsheets, Advanced Meter Data, utility billing databases, and expertise to Identify and Help to correct anomalies in Facility Energy Use

· Develop an Effective Network of Facility Managers and Building Energy Monitors.

· Optimize Facility Operations to Minimize Utility Costs: The REM shall identify the facilities with the greatest potential for energy cost savings.

· Develop and Sustain an Effective Energy Awareness, Incentive, and Suggestion Program

· Support Utility Demand Reduction to Maximize Cost Avoidance

· Conduct Energy Audits

· Provide Renewable Energy Support

· Identify Potential Energy Projects, Programs, and Initiatives

· Support the Implementation of Energy Projects

· Recommend Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Improvements

· Support the goals established by the DOD’s climate strategy

· Assist in developing projects such as Microgrids and IEWP

Requirements

The successful candidate for this position should possess the ability to develop and assist with the implementation of actions/projects in support of facility maintenance, repair, and construction activities, including providing design review comments; project management support; identification of energy savings projects, construction coordination and oversight; and other support activities to ensure that energy efficiency measures and water conservation measures are incorporated into all actions.

Basic Requirements

1. Position requires relocation.

2. Be able to communicate both in verbal and written forms and the ability to utilize Word, Excel spreadsheets, and other basic computer programs.

3. Must be able to pass a security clearance.

4. United States citizen

5. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or be able to obtain a CEM within 8 months of employment. (EECS will fund training and testing.)

6. Experience requirements:

· A four-year engineering degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in energy management.

· An Environmental Science, business or related degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience in energy management.

· A two-year technical degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in energy management.

· No degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience in energy management.

Other Desirable Qualifications

1. Technically inclined personnel with a strong HVAC background.

2. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) along with other energy certifications.

3. Military experience is desirable but not required.

Salary range $95,000 to $130,000 depending upon qualifications and certifications.
