U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service, is seeking an HVAC Journeyman to play a crucial role in our operations at our site in Washington, D.C. This is a union position, and the applicant hired will be a member of Local 32BJ.
Shifts available: 7 am-4 pm and 3:30 pm-12:30 am.
This position offers diverse responsibilities, which are integral to our operations. You will be responsible for the operation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of all HVAC-related mechanical, electrical, and control systems, contributing significantly to our team's success.
Duties involve: operation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of all HVAC related mechanical, electrical, control systems, air handling units, pumps, motors, heat exchangers, rebuild pumps, installs mechanical seals, pumps alignment, cleaning coils in air handling units and convectors, maintain optimum heat exchange; assembling, installing, repairing, and maintaining chilled and hot water systems; Provide routine and preventive maintenance duties including filter changes, lubrication, belt adjustment / replacement, control and performance checks; replace bearings, motors, and dampers; inspect mechanical/electrical systems, record inspections, write reports to supervisors; ability to use regular and special tools, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, adjustment gauges, multi-meters and lubrication equipment.
May be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth above to address business needs and change business practices.
Job Requirements Qualifications/Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, mechanical systems (Journeyman certificate required)
- Familiarity with the operation of building automation systems is desirable, but not required.
- Must be able to write, comprehend, and execute written and oral instructions and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
- Requires work in confined spaces and on ladders or lift equipment over six feet from the ground.
- Must be able to lift over 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in a confined space.
- Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools.
- A demonstrated history of being a dependable and cohesive team member.
- A willingness to maintain and advance skill level through personal effort and training.
- Strong diligence/safety and an elevated level of accuracy.
- Required to be on call as needed, Ability to act competently in emergencies.
- Ability to walk, stand, and lift heavy objects for an extended amount of time.
- Strong knowledge in general maintenance field (electrical, plumbing, HVAC)
- A valid Driver’s License in good standing required.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must have a willingness to learn new skills and assist co-workers.
