The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for performing HR-related duties professionally and working closely with HR management. Day-to-day assignments will vary, and the ideal candidate must be able to prioritize needs to ensure things are running smoothly and following company processes.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Works with the Human Resources team to understand and execute Powers’ human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, and retention.
- Handles employment-related inquires from applicants, employees, and supervisors; referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Implements new hire orientation, entry of new employee information into systems, and maintains employee records.
- Assists with the talent acquisition process using ATS software (Bamboo HR), collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Screens applications by reviewing work history, education, training, job skills, and salary requirements. Provides information on company programs and job opportunities to potential applicants.
- Coordinates with the Human Resources team on strategic initiatives to increase employee engagement.
- Supports recognition and benefit programs including relationships with insurance providers, brokers, and open enrollment.
- Assists with Leave Management: STD, LTD, FMLA, and other applicable leaves.
- Coordinates with management to create and implement learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
- Conducts employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- A minimum of two years of human resource experience with benefits management, leave tracking, onboarding, recruitment, and employment law.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field is a plus but not required for candidates with a requisite level of experience.
