ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE POSITION
Breakthrough seeks a team member whose primary roles include managing a sophisticated donor database and providing efficient, accurate administrative support for a high functioning Development and Communications team. Responsibilities include gift processing and acknowledgement, meeting and event logistics support, and Board reporting. The Development Associate will report to and partner closely with the Director of Development while collaborating with and supporting the entire Development and Communications team.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and act as the first point of contact for the donor database. Manage records, monitor database performance, and keep the team informed about updates and new features.
- Ensure compliance with the Donor Data Guide, proposing and executing revisions and improvements within processes and procedures as needed.
- Assist with onboarding, orientation, and skills training for new development and communications staff, focusing on database and systems use.
- Create, maintain, and execute queries and reports that track fundraising progress.
- Ensure prompt and accurate gift entry, receipting, gratitude, and pledge management in Virtuous Donor CRM. Oversee third-party giving platforms and ensure prompt gift processing and acknowledgement.
- Draft, format, and review recurring reports, including a monthly fundraising report for the Board of Trustees.
- Organize logistics for development-related events and meetings. Includes schedule and supply coordination, list generation, material distribution, and follow up communication.
- Lead the management of RSVPs and check-in for the annual Breakthrough Benefit Concert.
- Collaborate with staff to produce and review lists for all development mailings, stewardship activities, e-communications, invoices, and pledge reminders.
- Lead the monthly and annual cash reconciliation meeting with the Operations Coordinator and Operations Manager.
- Support special projects as assigned by the Director of Development.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong computer proficiency with fluency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Google Workspace. Willingness to learn new software and systems.
- Demonstrated experience with data entry, data analysis and/or database management. Database experience within a fundraising environment preferred.
- Well-organized, systematic thinker.
- Impeccable attention to detail is a must. Recognizes the value of precision when working with data and logistics and demonstrates ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
- Proven success prioritizing, managing, and completing projects from initiation to completion. Strong follow-through and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate reliably, effectively, and courteously with fellow staff members, donors, community partners, students, and volunteers.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Competitive salary between $50,000-$60,000, depending on experience and qualifications

The salary range listed represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for the year in which the position is filled. The actual salary offered for this position will depend on a number of factors including overall years of experience, relevant years of experience, skills and qualifications.
