JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN
Reports to: Vice President of Electrical
General description: Installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the electrical construction industries.
Responsibilities: Perform all electrical tasks without general supervision, possess journeyman card/license/ or has proven industry experience, be willing and able to train/ mentor apprentices, read blueprints, one-line/schematic drawings, terminate cables, install and troubleshoot control wiring from a drawing, be able to demonstrate experience factors exceeding that of an electrical helper and perform rough-in work.
Specific Job Requirements:
- Experience in commercial, industrial, and residential electrical construction
- Experience installing 100-800amp Electrical Services for Residential and Commercial
- Install feeders
- Wire and conduit sizing
- Switchgear and device install & termination
- Layout and preparation for installation
- Calculate basic mathematical problems
- Underground layout and rough-in work
- Troubleshooting lighting controls
- Work with apprentices; train and mentor apprentices
- Document problems and prepare reports
- Practical application of electrical theory and the National Electrical Code
- Work on fire alarm systems & other low voltage systems (access control, cameras, nurse call, telephone entry systems, etc.)
- Work on energized circuits and equipment with company management approval as outlined in Company safety policies when needed
- Read and interpret maps, instruction manuals, specifications, work site directions, blueprints and written/verbal instructions
- Securing and retrieval of tools and materials from storage areas to complete their assigned tasks
- Current, valid, driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Current Journeyman having completed accredited apprentice program
- High School Graduate, or equivalent G.E.D. certificate
- Has at least 5 years of previous electrical work experience
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Understanding of electrical industry standards, practices, electrical theory and the National Electrical Code
- Knowledge and experience of using power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders and knockout punches
- Practices and comprehends safe work procedures per Company policy and OSHA Standards
- Analytical and organizational skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to work unsupervised, as well as part of a crew

- Dependable, resourceful, and reliable
- Responsible for providing own hand tools (Power Tools Supplied by Walbrandt Electric)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Climb and work on ladders (all types)
- Completing overhead work for full-day assignments
- Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment
- Possess good vision (normal or corrected)
- Able to operate two handed tools (cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, etc.)
Working Conditions:
- Work in all elements, depending on job location, time of year (heat, cold, rain, snow)
- May be exposed to heights; must be comfortable with heights
- Operate company vehicles; maintain in good working condition
