Job Summary:
As the Maintenance Manager, you will oversee the maintenance team and ensure the efficient operation, upkeep, and safety of all hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. You will be responsible for managing maintenance schedules, coordinating repairs and inspections, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to uphold the highest standards of quality and guest satisfaction.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building codes, and maintain accurate records of inspections and repairs.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations and coordinate with other departments to minimize guest disruptions.
- Supervise and lead a team of maintenance technicians, assigning tasks and providing guidance as needed.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the ongoing functionality of all equipment, systems, and facilities.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and mechanical rooms to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
- Coordinate and prioritize maintenance requests from guests and staff, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, as well as furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Examine and test machinery, equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning.
- Tend and observe equipment and machinery to verify efficient and safe operation.
- Adjust, connect, or disconnect wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts, using hand or power tools.
- Diagnose electrical problems and install and rewire electrical components.
- Order new parts to maintain inventory.
- Apply protective materials to equipment, components, and parts to prevent defects and corrosion.
- Assemble and maintain physical structures, using hand or power tools.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in hotel maintenance or a similar role, with at least 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing a variety of equipment and systems.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work efficiently under pressure.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe and clean environment for guests and staff.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
