Senior Residential HVAC/Refrigeration Technician
HVAC Service/Refrigeration Technician (Houston)
AstroTex A/C & Heating is located in Houston and has been in business since 1983. We specialize in HVAC service, maintenance, installations, and indoor air quality control. We also provide commercial refrigeration and ice machine repairs and maintenance.
We have seen rapid growth and are currently hiring senior HVAC Technicians. We are looking for technicians who can handle service / repair and diagnose residential equipment, including high efficiency equipment.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Diagnostic Expertise:
- Conduct comprehensive inspections and diagnostics of HVAC systems, (including high technical knowledge of different brands and systems including high efficiency systems - 2 stage, communicating, zoning, etc.).
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with little to no assistance.
- Ability to work and diagnose refrigeration issues – walk in coolers, ice machines, etc. a plus
2. Repairs:
- Extensive ability to repair various HVAC systems including high efficiency systems.
- Ability to handle repairs with no supervision.
- Implement preventive maintenance tailored to the local environment.

3. Installation and Upgrades:
- Oversee the installation and upgrading of HVAC systems.
- Collaborate with installation teams to ensure systems are resilient to the local climate.
4. Technical Leadership:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to other technicians, emphasizing Houston-specific challenges.
- Act as a local expert on HVAC solutions optimized for the Houston area.
5. Customer Interaction:
- Communicate effectively with clients, explaining diagnostic findings and recommending solutions.
- Ability to present multiple new hvac purchase options clearly and effectively to customers.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through professional and culturally aware interactions.
6. Documentation/Technology Savvy:
- Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and maintenance activities relevant to Houston's climate.
- Utilize i-pad/mobile phone to track time, dispatching, uploading customer diagnose and repair work using CRM system.
- Generate detailed reports on system assessments.
7. Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to local HVAC regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Stay informed about regional HVAC trends and advancements.
8. Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to emergency service calls – weekends / evenings based on needs.
- Willing to work long hours and be on call with a positive attitude.
- Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and resolve urgent issues efficiently.
**Must have DRIVER'S LICENSE AND GOOD DRIVING RECORD
**Must have CLEAN BACKGROUND RECORD
**Must be State Registered & EPA certified, NATE certification or equivalent a big plus
** Have a clean, neat and professional appearance; pride of workmanship in their work
